They’re just trying to create more mental problems to keep their business.

Soon after it was discovered it was thought to be a useful aid in treating people for mental conditions, so this is nothing new, at least thought-wise. They just may start to employ it in that manner now though.

Only those with truly weak minds. I did a fair share of LSD back in the day, and I have no mental problems, and never have.

That’s not true. Psychedelic drugs offer a promising approach to treating psychiatric problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder.

Maybe. Maybe not

In the early sixties LSD was thought to be a cure all for severe depression. The clinical trials did not show such a result. The results were rather mixed. It was no panacea

Yes. Maybe the promise will not be fulfilled, but investigating this is a very good idea.

Masking unresolved issues dies not heal them.

It’s just another blue pill approach.

Flying out the window on the 7th floor is a sure cure for anything that ails a person.

Are you a physician? Do you know anything about these drugs?

I am, and I do.

Discussing the possible benefits of psychedelic drugs on FreeRepublic is like pushing shit uphill. People have their biases and preconceptions. I gave up preaching Linux for similar reasons.

Plenty of “acid casualties” from back in the day. I would venture most due to overuse and being taken in the wrong types of situations. I would imagine that in a controlled environment and the right prep and “cues” it could be part of a course of therapy. Perhaps a trained observer could identify underlying causes that might emerge in a guided session.

Drugs don’t treat mental disorders. Psychedelic drugs mess up the mind, and don’t treat mental disorders.

Mental disorders are not just a chemical imbalance.

The people they are suggesting this treatment for have mental problems. What could possibly go wrong? MK Ultra and other programs using these drugs were reported to be about influencing people to be Manchurian Candidate/ sleeper agents. What could possibly go wrong?

"Are you a physician? Do you know anything about these drugs? I am, and I do."

Good for you.

But one doesn't have to play professional baseball to have an informed opinion on baseball, and that translates to any profession.

Like saying only military veterans have a valid opinion on foreign affairs.
