SURFSIDE, Fla. - A top Miami-Dade fire official on Saturday told family members of people missing in the rubble of a collapsed condo building that demolition workers planned to bring down the remainder of the building on Sunday.
Worries have intensified over the past week that the damaged structure could come tumbling down on its own, endangering the crews below and complicating the search for victims.
Fire Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Raide Jadallah told family members during a morning briefing that the building would be brought down “as soon as possible. First thing tomorrow.”
But he cautioned that there “may be some hiccups.” A follow-up meeting will be held in the afternoon to finalize details of the demolition, which could be a precarious operation as experts enter the building to bore into the structure to install explosives.
Concerns that the still-standing portion could tumble have curtailed the search in areas close to that section, and shifts detected by monitors early Thursday prompted a 15-hour suspension of the entire search until engineers determined the site was safe to restart.

I don’t believe that for a minute. They would not have let anywhere near that building.
Does this demolition entail the entire section that is still standing?
Or is the demolition limited to the hunks of concrete hanging on the standing building?
No news report seems to offer a clear statement.

Very doubtful. The best they can hope for is to dig through the rubble.
They will probably sift through the rubble to remove any remains. And possibly to allow residents to sift through the rubble to retrieve some personal belongings.
I heard someone on an interview today state they must take the building down now because if it collapses on its own, it will fall in the wrong direction. They want it to fall westward and it can only do so if they take it down manually. Or something like that.

That could work out...it could collapse after 1,000 of them move in.
My guess is that none of the personal belongings in the standing part of the building will be recovered before the demolition.
No matter what you believe or don’t believe, it is destroying evidence. Also, on Independence Day of all days!! :( You don’t find that in the least bit suspicious, etc.? You obviously do not know our government.
They are full of BS. See that one side fell almost straight down onto itself, which PROVES it was a controlled/purposeful demolition of that first side to kill innocent people.

I said he was "off duty and advised" He did not remove the body it was discovered by the team, he was notified and met the team, covered her and placed a flag on the gurney

That PROVES no such thing.
Do you have any idea what is involved in setting up an actual controlled demolition? If it were a controlled demolition, someone living in the building, and yes there were enough survivors to have seen the preparation work, would have seen workers boring holes into the concrete pillars, using plasma cutters to cut into steel support beams, and placing the explosives, not only at the base but at several key points stories up and running all the wiring.

You actually think they did it during the day? Explosives don’t need to be inserted, they (such as C4, nanothermite, etc.) can just be put on beams, etc.
