Indulging in chocolate is one surefire way to satisfy a sweet tooth. And according to a new study published in The FASEB Journal, your health can actually benefit from this treat.

To gather their findings, the team studied 19 postmenopausal women who ate 100 grams of chocolate within one hour of waking up in the morning. Next, their volunteers dined on the same amount of the sweet one hour before going to sleep. After examining weight gain and similar measures in comparison to people who didn't eat chocolate at all, the researchers discovered that those who consumed the treat didn't experience a weight increase. Plus, they noticed that the women's appetite, gut microbiome balance, and sleep quality improved specifically by consuming cocoa in the morning.

I just bought Aldi’s 85% chocolate 125g for $1.99. There’s five 25g bars in a box.

I (a man) was grinning while reading this article, sitting up in bed at 7:50 a.m. on a Sunday morning, with my laptop on the duvet, sipping hot white cocoa and nibbling on Ritter Sport "Ganze Mandel," until I came to the devastating words, "tested on 19 post-menopausal women."

Would it help if I identified as a post-menopausal woman?

Regards,

What if you eat chocolate all day long?

What if you order 15 lbs of sugar free chocolate almonds from nuts.com, because it’s cheaper in bulk. And your blood sugar runs over 200 for weeks? Is that bad?

If you have chocolate in the house in the morning that means you went to bed the previous night with uneaten chocolate in the house.

I am going to bed tonight with uneaten chocolate in the house.

The chocolate in question is Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate with Fruit & Nuts.

Some powdered peanut butter (available in stores) could turn this into a Reese cup.

I am not so sure about that. They said almonds are a brain food, why not just cover those in chocolate and eat those? I’m not sold on the peanut idea heh.

For a long time (incldg. this AM) then as one with low blood sugar (and 130lbs), I have begun and ended each day in the cold/cool with a large glass of homemade hot chocolate (one part HERSHEY'S Special Dark Mildly Sweet Dark Chocolate Sugar Free Cocoa, to 3 parts sugar), with some milk in it, thank God. Helps get the brain fog lift.

And Milk Chocolate exploits cows, too, so there’s that bonus.
