Portland begs people to visit in most nauseating poem ever
PressCalifornia ^ | June 21, 2021 | Staff Report

Posted on 06/21/2021 7:27:07 AM PDT by artichokegrower

This jumble of words took up an entire page in the Sunday New York Times and San Francisco Chronicle and other major newspapers.

It’s a farce in three acts. First, someone wrote it. Second, someone thought it was good. Third, someone paid for numerous full page ads that run $50,000 to $200,000 or more a pop.

"We have some of the loudest voices on the West Coast. And yes, passion pushes the volume all the way up. We’ve always been like this. We wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Once again, left-wing "passion" is good and noble, but let a conservative raise his or her voice and it's a portent of fascism.

They occasionally have contests to write poetry in the style of some famous poet...I will imitate this one:

This is Portland

You've heard a lot of bad things about us lately.
It's time you truthfully heard from us.

Some of what you’ve heard about Portland is true. Some is not.
What matters most is that we’re true to our Moonbattery.

There is a river that cuts though the middle of our town
It provides a dumping ground. But it’s deep-and it’s and it’s long.
Guns and knives we throw in it. And that is the perfect
metaphor for this city

We are a place of criminalities with lots of fatalities
Lots of ways the same person can end up on the Coroner’s Table
Anything can happen. We like it that way.

This is the kind of place where new victims are welcome - whether
they’re knifed in the gut or shot in the face
You can kill folks here. You can be a Lefty here.

We have some of the the most obnoxious voices ever
And yes, Leftism makes the volume grate your ears
We’ve always been like this
We wouldn’t have it any other way

We have faith in Violence. We’re doing it every day
the only way we know how, by being Leftist.

Come get your face shot.

Love,

Portland

Lmao. “Come and get your face shot.” Epic. I will go there on my vacation. But bring a knife and gun.

I used to get the MVPA magazine for a few years but let it go.

Most of them I wound up giving to my dad.

Some of the content was really good. I could have never talked the spouse into going to a convention.

First off, my apologies to any conservatives who live in Portland. I know there are some. And I also suspect that at some point in the past, perhaps long ago, it was a wonderful place to live.

That said, this picture right here is emblematic of what Portland is all about:

And it isn't just the crapping protester. It is the people who bring little kids (as you can see in the background) to something like this and who laugh about it, and think it is just fine.

Portland is a Leftist sewer, and these people are denizens of a sewer.

In Portland we are a species
That liters needles, urine and feces
We don’t give a damn, and like to set fires
and small biz gets ground into pieces

My wife is from a military family; she has been into this for decades. She drags me along to all these military events. One time we were on our way out to a local military base for her to set up a large display. I realized as we were coming up to the check point that I had forgotten my driver’s license. I thought that we were going to be really screwed. We were in a pretty long line and were running a little late. Normally we had to check in at the visitor’s center. The MPs recognized her I guess from a picture because we didn’t recognize any of them. They said that they were expecting us and waved us through without any picture ID from me, they didn’t even make her take over the driving.

So I thought they must have been being much more lax than normal. This was surprising because the Western Regional Medical Command Team was there and the General was giving my wife a plaque and award from the Army Nurse Corps. We had a couple of friends who were active duty marines that we had invited to come to the event to witness her being recognized and had driven over 60 miles; they wouldn’t let them on the base because of heightened security. And the Command team was dressed in their civilian clothes to make them more difficult to identify. It was a lot of fun but almost a little surreal.

I left Portland in 2000.
Do I miss it?

No!
Would I suggest it as a place to live a year’s time in a weekend?

No!

First of all anyone that craps on the flag needs to be out of the USA. Go to a third world country and realize how good it is here. But no way should these people be allowed to try to turn this country into a third world country.

I don’t know when the switch will flip, but at some point people are going to have to take care of this ourselves if our voted in politicians won’t do the job. But it scares me. Yesterday I went to see my dad (was a marine in Vietnam war) for Father’s Day and his views scare me, very far from where it used to be. It’s because he believes what’s on the evening news. And he
has Alzheimer’s but there is still a marine in there. I was talking to him about people doing something. And he said “it will never happen, while there are some that have the nuts to do what needs to be done .. most have over time turned into or are just vaginas (not the word he used). It would take a lot of people at once and violence and most people don’t have the stomach for it. And the government knows this, they take all they want and give enough to get your vote”. Kind of hit it on the mark.

That’s interesting because I feel sorry for my brother in NE VA. I tell him about occasional problems here (eastern WA) and he always says it’s worse where he is.

Poetry with rhymes make sense
For people not totally dense
If the prose doesn’t rhyme
Don’t waste my darn time
With graffiti we’d see on a fence

Well, there is truth in what your father says. Sadly, people who are unfiltered often have a greater capability to speak the truth than people who have to calibrate everything they say.

He is right, though. There is a wall that people would have to get over to do drastic things that may need doing. Most normal people (as in a type of chemical reaction in which a threshold is encountered) need an event (catalyst) to get them over that threshold.

I dread the catalyst, but it takes that kind of thing for many normal people.

And people have different thresholds.

I’ve lived about 15 years in Southern Calif. and explored as best I could.
Has more to offer than any other state if ONLY you could rid the place of about 80 percent of its population.

Oh come visit Portland, come live it and learn it,
A city so pretty we sack it and burn it,
A place with a face that is frequently twisted,
With anger and hatred that can't be resisted.
We'll fire-bomb the shops and we'll fire-bomb your car,
And we'll loot and we'll shoot every place that you are,
We are loud and we're proud and we're frequently rude,
And we think that you stink with a bad attitude.
So come on and visit! There's still to be found,
An attraction we haven't yet burned to the ground,
A meal unmolested with very good luck,
We're Portland! You're America! We think that you suck!
