I used to get the MVPA magazine for a few years but let it go.
Most of them I wound up giving to my dad.
Some of the content was really good. I could have never talked the spouse into going to a convention.
My wife is from a military family; she has been into this for decades. She drags me along to all these military events. One time we were on our way out to a local military base for her to set up a large display. I realized as we were coming up to the check point that I had forgotten my driver’s license. I thought that we were going to be really screwed. We were in a pretty long line and were running a little late. Normally we had to check in at the visitor’s center. The MPs recognized her I guess from a picture because we didn’t recognize any of them. They said that they were expecting us and waved us through without any picture ID from me, they didn’t even make her take over the driving.
So I thought they must have been being much more lax than normal. This was surprising because the Western Regional Medical Command Team was there and the General was giving my wife a plaque and award from the Army Nurse Corps. We had a couple of friends who were active duty marines that we had invited to come to the event to witness her being recognized and had driven over 60 miles; they wouldn’t let them on the base because of heightened security. And the Command team was dressed in their civilian clothes to make them more difficult to identify. It was a lot of fun but almost a little surreal.
