Years ago in my HR days when given a choice of hiring a degreed EE or a junior to mid-level former NCO who’d been through the Navy’s electrical schools, I’d take the former NCO any day.
They ran circles around EEs, had super work ethic, didn’t get involved in shop politics and our clients loved them, at least based on their repeated requests for on-site work. Any one of them was worth 3 or 4 EEs almost any day.

R. R. Reno is the editor at “First Things”, a journal that focuses on the intersection of religion and the public square. There’s lots of good things in it, including articles that occasionally get posted on this site. Just yesterday (or the day before) was one on why parents should be wary about sending their sons to prestigious liberal arts colleges (because too often in those environments white males are caricatured as the ones responsible for everything that is bad).

We hired, and HR highballed her, a black woman as a software engineer whose undergraduate work was so-so, probably a 2.75 GPA, but had a 4.0 GPA in her Master's work, apparently a "late bloomer". She didn't know a stack from a queue and certainly couldn't write to code to implement either.
My construction company hired a double-degree Architect/Structural Engineer. He could not legibly or accurately perform a written quantity survey of toilet partitions and urinal screens from the plans on a multistory office building. Wasn’t legible, close to accurate or understandable enough to even attempt to show him his own errors.

Being in the SF Bay Area I had a pool of applicants from predominantly 3 institutions of higher learning: Stanford University, UC Berkley and San Jose State. Most Stanford grads have been told they're special all their lives and tend not to work well with others from less prestigious schools. They also carry major student debt and as soon as someone offers them $5K more a year they're gone. Berkley grads have always been "woke" and tend not get along with lesser plebes and spread hate and discontent through the workforce. San Jose State kids tended to be working class kids who went there because they couldn't get in and/or afford anywhere else. They generally worked their way through school and had lots common sense, maturity and a work ethic that the other school failed to instill. I always looked for San Jose State grads. And I found the best technical people came from De Anza community college. After awhile the only place I posted job offerings was on a bulletin board outside their computer center.
The supposed best and brightest spend their time navel-gazing and weeping because someone said or did something that triggers their inner screaming brat. We are in deep, deep trouble.

I think nailed it better than any description I have seen.
“Is he Indian? They’re usually even worse,”
Actually, he was native American.
Thanks
“You imagine teaching these These modern snowflakes: bad boys rape our young girls but Violet gives willingly.”
You forgot “get some now”, (gold silver none), which I learned in a Navy School.

My question to you would be, “Why did you start hiring Ivy League Graduates?
My sister-in-law just quit a job at a US government research facility because of rank incompetence and racism. She was in a lab and had applied for the supervisory position with 20+ years of experience and the correct degree, but she was the wrong skin color.
The black guy they hired t fill a quota came in and started barking orders and honestly doesn’t know how to turn on the damned machines in his own lab much less complete the duties of the lab. She was being overwhelmed with duties and working 12 hr days and weekends and asked for help from the new boss and he hired a black guy with the right degree but he didn’t know the first thing about a nuclear facility lab so she was still doing all the work.
Finally she applied for a position out of that lab and the supervisor denied it as well as his supervisor saying the lab would shut down if she left, you can’t transfer. She said that’s fine, you can transfer me or I will give notice, I’m done. The supervisor up the food chain approved the transfer and she essentially gets to work from home now. The lab she left is a complete disaster thirty days after she left, but hey they got minorities working there and they got their degrees, yeah for them!
I want one!
