Why electric cars will take over sooner than you think
I know, you probably haven't even driven one yet, let alone seriously contemplated buying one, so the prediction may sound a bit bold, but bear with me.
We are in the middle of the biggest revolution in motoring since Henry Ford's first production line started turning back in 1913.
And it is likely to happen much more quickly than you imagine.
Many industry observers believe we have already passed the tipping point where sales of electric vehicles (EVs) will very rapidly overwhelm petrol and diesel cars.
It is certainly what the world's big car makers think.
Jaguar plans to sell only electric cars from 2025, Volvo from 2030 and last week the British sportscar company Lotus said it would follow suit, selling only electric models from 2028.

At some point, if they are not stopped, they will make it difficult if not impossible to buy gas.
“Funny thing is, without Lotus, Tesla might have failed long ago, even before Elon Musk got involved in Tesla.”
What are you smoking?
Most ‘electric’ trains are diesel-electric, e.g. they carry their own generator.
Then you’ll only be allowed to drive on certain days of the week, and if you go over your limit, the cloud will have a kill switch to stop your car.
What’s its range on one full charge of the batteries, pulling a load?
“When I finally pay it off it will be banned because it’s gas powered?”
No, you’ll buy an EV next because you will want one. No need to ban what nobody wants.
Just like using a digital camera, cell phone, email, credit cards, CDs, etc … all tech that many Luddites railed against, but it took over anyway.
We’re driving a 2003 and that’s the newest vehicle we’ve owned. Paid $3,000 for it which is the most we’ve ever spent on a vehicle. What’s a 20 year old electric vehicle going to be like? Will need new batteries, electric motor rebuilt? What will that cost? $5,000.00
Yeah, they’ll have all the peasants walking or riding bikes just like in third world shitholes which is what they really want.
Yup, this.
“That’s electric?? I really do not understand how that could be feasible. Yes we have electric trains but they get their electric from the tracks. A truck would have to be self contained and it would need a tremendous amount of stored electric as the average interstate rig can easily drive 500 to 600 miles a day. No trucking company is going to want trucks that drive a couple hundred miles then spend 6 hours charging.”
Yes. 400 mile recharge in 30 minutes.
“There are still people with Stanley Steamer stock that swear internal combustion engines are a fool’s errand.”
The sad part about this is that the steam engines lost due to the market. The market isn’t deciding anymore. It will be decided by the establishment.
That is why the establishment views conservatives as the largest threat to peace.
Performance and affordability are the prime movers, not environmental hoaxes.
I’ve driven only a couple of Prius’s. They were impressive. I understand that Tesla is really something.
First thing I’ve done these last few years with any device is to kill cloud access and storage. Also, no Facebook etc or digital assistants for me.
So what could possibly go wrong?
This piece is propaganda & fiction.
We are close on the range. I have spoken with my gnomes and they agree that is already their if you will it's the next beach head is charge times. 12 to 15 minutes with Solid State Batteries which will supposedly be here 2025 and after.
Look for the latest press releases from QuantumScape and Solid Power. Solid Power's latest Release w/ diagrams denote 300 mile range, 15 to 20 minute charge times (depending on the Cathode) with a reduction in Mass and Pac Size of 44% and 46% respectively. That also coincides with the Ford Video Press briefing given by the head of engineering Hau Tia-Tang. Solid Power also noted cost of the pac goes down almost $4000. It is a trade off at that point, more weight and pac size to reach the 400 miles, unless other breakthroughs in Watt's/Kg density occur that is compatible with the architecture and chemistry's they are using.
The U.S. must double electricity generation capacity to charge electric cars.
How?
“The logistics of placing charging stations where they’re needed is also a huge impediment.”
The logistics of placing gas stations where they’re needed is also a huge impediment.
“Good thing electricity is magic.”

I’m your only friend
I’m not your only friend
But I’m a little glowing friend
But really I’m not actually your friend
But I am
Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I’m the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

It would be no problem to replace a diesel with and electric motor, Trains have done it for decades. The problem arises with range and recharging.
Musk did NOT found Tesla. He was brought in after them two gentlemen in the video had founded it and run into serious difficulties.
