Earlier this week, at the age of 67, he became a homicide victim, gunned down behind his St. Clair County home. It appears two men tried to steal his beloved Chevy Camaro, affectionately named “Babe.”
“Brian was a pacifist. He didn’t believe in violence, so this is hard to comprehend,’' said his sister, Carole Tatum. “He was my baby brother. It’s hard.”
The shooting happened at Shaw’s Ladonna Drive home in Odenville.
According to friends and family, Shaw was in the three-bay, industrial-style garage behind his home working on one of his cars. He loved to buy and sell cars, take them apart and rebuild them. Most recently he had bought Babe, the 2002 convertible Camaro that had logged only 16,000 miles.
It was shortly before 8 p.m. when his neighbors heard what sounded like gunfire.
“They heard, ‘pop pop,’ and his wife said, ‘that sounded like gunfire,’’' Tatum said. “He came out of his house and saw Brian laying there and told his wife to call 911. He grabbed his shotgun and went back outside.”
One suspect was running down the street. The second had driven off as soon as the neighbor appeared brandishing a long gun.
Shaw was pronounced dead at his home within 30 minutes of the shooting.

"Sheriff’s officials have charged 34-year-old Charles Lawrence Grimmett, of Birmingham, with murder.
He was taken into custody not long after Shaw was killed. Court records show Grimmett pleaded guilty in 2017 to shooting another man with a shotgun. He received a 10-year suspended sentence."

I’d love to see the day when every adult who opposes the death penalty will have someone who’s important to them brutally,wantonly,murdered.
That is becoming more and more apparent. This story reminds me of the recent one about the white retired firefighter who was murdered by a black thug. The thug was acquitted. There already is a race war going on, but only one race is fighting it.
But they only matter when it’s a white guy who kills them.Last year something like 600 people were murdered in Chicago....95% of them were black and 95% of them were killed by blacks.

A lot of people worry excessively about the death penalty because an innocent person might get executed.
1) Extremely rare. In the US you really have to struggle to come up with an incident where this happened.
2) How many murderers go on to kill people while they are in prison? Quite a few.
3) How many murderers don't go to prison and go on to kill innocent people? Quite a few.
You want to avoid needless deaths of innocent people? Use the death penalty a lot more frequently.
Well it’s a local murder and will stay that way since it’s the usual black on white racial mix. No hate crime here.

Note to people who think certain things don't exist just because you don't believe in them: make-believe may work that way...reality doesn't.

It showed.among other things,the "cross racial" (my term) murder is rare in this country. More specifically it shows that blacks killing whites is very,very unusual and that whites killing blacks is almost unheard of (I wish I could recall the figures).

Mr. Shaw was but yet another victim of criminal justice 'reform,' I guess.
Get yourself a gun, keep it loaded and well-functioning and teach yourself to shoot it. You may just save your life or the life of someone you know.
Meanwhile, a jury in SC acquitted Devon Dunham of the murder of Ernest Martin Stevens.
Dunham, a black ex con, shot Mr Stevens 8 times as he tried to escape Dunham’s attempted carjacking.
Mr Stevens was a 77 year old White retiree.
Despite Dunham being arrested with the gun, eye witness testimony, video, physical evidence and A CONFESSION a jury rendered a not guilty verdict on all counts.
No outrage, no “mostly peaceful protests”, no national media coverage, no kneeling in congress.
I guess White lives really don’t matter

Yeah, they really look like fine gents, don’t they? How can somebody kill someone in 2017 and be out on the streets? If a white guy had killed a black man, he would be go to prison for a long time, and there would be bonus riots.
