Of course Jim Robinson: For creating freerepublic.com and keeping it the way it is. :) Who else? Maybe one or more people on here who have supposedly been "banned" ;) though are still here. That is hilarious!!! :)
😀
Thanks! rustbucket sets the example and he would point to others.
I last heard from him in February... sure hope he's still OK.

Miss him.

I wanted to take just a moment to second Luvie's nomination of Kathy In Alaska or Freeper Sainthood. When I first joined FR back 2000 or so, Snow Bunny was the one who started the Freeper Canteen threads. Then, we had 68 69 Tonkin Yacht Gulf Club take over. When Tonkin passed away, that's when Kathy took over.
These Canteen threads provide entertainment and breaks from the stress of military life for those who are in that field at home and abroad as well as their families. I myself have family and friends in the military. We live in an area of Oklahoma that is close to a military installation so I know what military life is like and it's not easy at all.
That is why these canteen threads are so important to these people, to help them take a break for it all. Were it not for Kathy In Alaska and her dedication to these threads and making sure they go smoothly, nobody knows where these people would turn to.
That is why I join with Luvie and 2nd her nomination of Kathy In Alaska for keeping these long running Canteen threads running, in support of our military at home and abroad.
To all the men and women in the military at home and abroad, thank you for your service to our country. Americans will always have your back.
Kathy In Alaska for SAINTHOOD!!!!!!!
AMEN!!
If he points to these and says, “see, I’m really a popular guy. A saint, as it were. Now f#$$ off all you foreigners,” it might be.
I was there at his wake. I had to leave early because of pain from a recent operation, but it was important to be there.
I always loved his chant: “Wash up! Like me! Soap is cheap and water’s free!” Yelled at leftie protestors usually.
And who could forget him appearing in a prison uniform and gask mask with a sign that simply said, “Hippies smell”. Classic.
OMG...street theater indeed!!!
To say nothing of the Cops Cheer...

FOR THE RECORD: CBS Memos Controversy on Free Republic

In the interest of the historical importance of things that happened on this forum last week and, most importantly, to try to provide and document an accurate record of exactly what happened here on the evening of September 8, 2004, and the following morning, I have compiled a listing of ALL of the postings that occurred on Free Republic concerning CBS and Dan Rather 60 Minutes show from 8:00 PM EDT on Thurdsay, September 8, 2004, up until about 9:00 AM EDT on the morning of Friday, September 9, 2004, when the rest of the internet “caught up.”
I am posting this thread for two reason.
First, to document the facts as we all know them to be — and to try to put to rest the dubious claims that have been made concerning exactly how this all came about and exactly who “brought” it about...
over 23 years of offering wisdom from the Lord, with many political commentaries mixed in, and not one referral.
I’m shocked I tell, shocked.
I must have pissed off a lot of people over the last 23 years.
Okay, I nominate you! :)
