GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH
spaceweather.com ^ | 5-17-21 | spaceweather.com

Posted on 05/17/2021 4:33:17 PM PDT by dynachrome

Minor G1-class geomagnetic storms are possible on May 18-19 when a pair of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) is expected to hit Earth's magnetic field. The two CMEs left the sun on consecutive days: One from sunspot AR2822 on May 13th, the next from sunspot AR2823 on May 14th. Individually, the CMEs appear to be weak and insubstantial; however, they could add up to a geomagnetic storm when they arrive in quick succession this Tuesday.

If you go in tomorrow, you might want to ride your horse.
His primitive electronics won’t get fried as badly as your car’s.
Watch for smoke curling from under his saddle blanket, tho!

It’s a poor secret. Anybody can get readings anytime they want to. What is really happening is always subject to debate . I figure some people must be sitting on their data so that a competing team does not get the chance to publish first.

It just don’t sound right to me.
A pair of pants is on the floor.
A good writer would avoid the controversy by saying:
“...two coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are expected...”

Even the telegraph office will be down.

You're gonna have to cage that sense of humor.

That makes sense. We have the data, but if we publish now, someone will publish first!

No. I think I see an inclined plane wrapped around a central cylinder to form a spiral in our future.

You can have the data but that does not mean you are ready to publish. It means you want everything to fit together and make sense . You don’t want to make some big claim only to have it shot down by being sloppy. The detection of Gravity waves is a good example. LIGO sat on their data for months before they went public with it.

Fair point. In the case of LIGO, how many other gravity wave detectors are there?

Virgo in Italy. Japan is working on one but it’s not up yet.
