I could not believe it. I was excited to go out to see all the faces of my fellow citizens at Home Depot.
I kind you not, probably only one in 20 people there were maskless (myself and 2 "brave" senior citizens). (I'm not counting the woman outside who pulled her mask down to smoke a cigarette.)
I'm talking about being outside in the garden center also no less.
Sad thing is I bet all these terrified people already got their 2 injections.
Things any better in your areas?
Exactly. I am amazed at how many mask-wearers I saw today trotting around in my tourist town (where we never had to wear them outdoors in the first place). But if they want to wear them til they die, that’s fine…just don’t try to make me or anybody else wear one.
That said, I think our big goal now should be to stop this from ever happening again. We were caught off-guard and didn’t resist initially, also because we were assured it would be only two weeks (even then, there were no masks). And by the time resistance started, it was too late and the state juggernaut was rolling over us.
No more next time!
I liberated myself in the produce dept today, after noticing very few had on a face diaper. It felt so good to be free!
My wife and I went out for pizza a couple of hours after the announcement.
With one exception, people walked in carrying their masks. The servers still wore theirs. But everyone else was testing the mask-free waters.
They’re stump broke.
I went to Walmart in central Maryland. I was one of four people in the store practicing my freedom. Didn’t get any dirty looks that I saw though.
Went to a meeting in a small town in NE Missouri a couple weeks ago and NO ONE was wearing a mask in public places. But I live in the liberal enclave of Columbia. But the instant the county dropped its mask requirement, I went to my small locally owned grocery store. Only 2 customers were wearing masks and only a couple of the college-age employees. I could BREATHE!
Good little socialist lemmings!
Florida doesn’t. Says something about the people.
Face masks are the left’s MAGA hat. I live in Mississippi and very few people are wearing masks here and have not been wearing them for some time. They never made any sense nor did they make scientific sense. They were always nothing but virtue signaling, and now they are the equivalent of gang colors. You wear a mask to prove you are a liberal. Fine with me if you want to smother in your own germs and halitosis. Just don’t complain when your teeth fall out.
All the signs regarding mandated mask wearing were down...missing, from the entrance at Wegmans and there were at least five people, not counting me, maskless.
I think many people did not even get the big news.
Same thing happening in Texas.
Agree. I found a very cheap eye primer from “Wet and Wild”. Really good.
I took my mask with me but everyone was out and about maskless here in NC.
Same Wal Mart here in PA last night and this afternoon.
Last night - all mask signage still up; 100 % of staff and shoppers in masks.
Tonight - all mask signage gone. *Not a trace of it* Didn’t matter. 100% of staff and all but one shopper still wearing a mask.
Some parts of Texas still have signs, but half the customers don’t mask.
Other states may vary...
That echoes a woman we met on our (ruined) vacation last summer. Our destination had just enacted a ‘county-wide’ mask mandate a week before we arrived, which we didn’t find out until we were 10 minutes away. Everyone there thought they were headed for freedom, and everyone was bummed.
I’ve never seen so many vacationers sitting on benches in the one local park staring glumly at the water and wishing they hadn’t come.
We were outside a closed restaurant in a tiny tourist town at 7pm on a Saturday evening at the peak of the tourist season. The restaurant and one of the two bars in town weren’t even bothering to open as a result of the mask mandate. The other bar was “carry-out only”. WTF?
The woman, also disappointed and gobsmacked by the mandate, said “People are easily led”. How true those words are.
Little did we know at the time that this insanity would be upon us for another 9 1/2 months before glimmers of sanity and sense began to show through.
Love ya, Jim. Love your system too. Good post.
Home Depot here (Texas) doesn’t say anything if you are maskless but the majority of people mask, even outdoors in the garden center.
