This week, New Yorkers — who pride themselves on slinging the finest slices — found themselves dethroned and defeated in a shocking new ranking that gave its pizza a mere bronze medal. That’s according to Food & Wine Magazine‘s latest pizza report, which included a top 10 list of states where the pies reign supreme. Not only did New York place third, but its bitter rival, New Jersey, came in first. Adding insult to injury, Connecticut elbowed its way past the Empire State to claim second place.
The Garden State’s official Twitter account trumpeted the news by sharing a Food & Wine screenshot with the caption, “fact check: TRUE.”

“If you give another New Yorker a call and ask them what’s a good pizzeria in New Jersey, chances are they’re not going to be able to name one,” said Ahmed Elsayed, 28, a manager at L&B Spumoni Gardens — a popular pizzeria in Brooklyn’s Gravesend neighborhood.

NY still has the best rats.
I live in NJ (central west), and there are many places here that would take your breath away. Also, fine, decent, polite and genuinely friendly hard-working folks (MAGA-ville).
And, we damn sure do have the best friggin’ pizza in the Galaxy.
I’m in NJ too, but New Haven has the best pizza. ;)
My arteries are making sounds like steam pipes just looking at that.
You are outnumbered.
And best “chunky style” water.
I now think of the Sleepy Man Banjo Boys when I think of New Jersey. Awesome bluegrass group.
Who wins:
The best Italian restaurant to get knocked off in???
I’m a NYer. My husband is from NJ. I’ve had both and much prefer NYs. NJ pizza too much bread for me.
I did hear Hoffa thought NJ pizza was better. In fact those were his last words.
The Best Pizza .
The Now Pizzeria in Hamburg NY
The Worst Pizza.
Any place in Utah .
Its a nightmare in Utah .
Go to the U.K., it’s much worse.
This is why garlic and onions come in handy. And a good salad with some good vinegars in them.
Keeps those arteries nice and healthy.
I No. I’ve been to NJ for years, had it plenty of places. Atlantic City boardwalk, Seaside boardwalk, cape may restaurants, Morristown, lavalette many times different places, Asbury park, toms-river, just seem to always have the dough too thick for my tastes. I mean I get it but just love ny pizza more, the dough bubbles little holes on the bottom the cheese stretches, crust about an eight of an inch is all.
Star Tavern, NJ. I believe in Orange.
