Amidst the pomp-and-circumstance introductions of Tuesday night's Jeopardy!, a three-day returning champion flashed an 'OK' sign with three fingers, sending the Twitter world into a frenzy.
When Kelly Donohue was announced by guest host Anderson Cooper, Donohue smiled and made a gesture of the sideways 'OK' gesture with three fingers out.
This hand gesture has been used by far right-wing groups to represent white supremacy, and The Anti-Defamation League classified it as an official symbol of hate in 2019.
But, this is not the only use of the symbol and Donohue has made very clear there was no 'hidden agenda or malice behind it'.
Donohue, who said he's a longtime fan of the gameshow, went on his personal Facebook Wednesday morning to clear the air.
'Many of the great champions of old had a little signature hello they would do onscreen when being introduced by Johnny Gilbert. I decided to count my victories,' he said. 'That's a 1. That's a 2. That's a 3.'
Each victory was attached to a photo of him before the game show flashing the number of wins.
'No more. No less,' he said. 'There wasn't a hidden agenda or any malice behind it.'

I have watched “Jeopardy” for decades, but I am not watching this week while Anderson Pooper is hosting. Likewise, I will not watch while Robin Roberts is hosting.
So, looks like “Jeopardy” will be falling by the wayside in this household.
