Nowadays could be a woman named Oscar...or a dog, or fish.

Fact is....I'd bet there is a woman named Oscar..somewhere.

I’ve seen the future, you know what it is? It’s a 47-year-old virgin sittin’ around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake singing “I’m an Oscar-Meyer Wiener”.

Weird as this may sound...I'd try a Banana Broccoli shake....

I've seen the Wiener Mobile in person.!! Wanted to drive it, they wouldn't let me..

Okay...this is going to sound off the wall...but you should try a Banana, Peanut butter..and Mayo sandwich.

I kid you not...they are good.

Eathquake.

Good visuals and special effects for a 70’s movie.

Amazing sound. Great acting. Lousy script. Really weird ending. Not believable at all but Overall a very good movie.

My parents didn’t buy a color TV until they saw mine when I was 20 years old and had moved out on my own. They weren’t exactly cutting edge. I know Ben-Hur was in color, saw it in the theatre way back when.

Read the list of movies past that won and the list of those competing over the decades. The later decades show fewer and fewer good movies starting late 90’s. The comments are good.

I actually thought Seth McFarlane was pretty good. I think the lefties hated it more than conservatives, although he is a big-time lib.

At a neighborhood theater, my wife and I saw both Nomadland and Minari. Nomadland, which won Best Movie, was good, but Minari was better, at least in my opinion. It told the story of a Korean family who homesteaded on a farm during the 1980s in Arkansas. They started to attend a church and were accepted by the congregation. At the end of the movie, the community came to help the family after they experienced a personal tragedy. There was no racism and the portrayal of Christianity and American culture was mostly positive (although there were some jabs). No wonder it didn't win Best Picture, but it did get a well deserved Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

I think also since so many shows & movies go straight to streaming, which guarantees profits thru streaming subscription fees, they really don’t care about making shows/films that people in flyover country want to watch.

The shock of Hopkins winning was all over Twitter and lots of angry people talking about it.

Anthony Hopkins on Why He Doesn’t Talk About Politics:

‘Actors Are Pretty Stupid’!!!

In a conversation with fellow actor Brad Pitt for a lengthy chat for Interview magazine, Anthony Hopkins explained why he seldom — actually: never — talks about politics... and why he’s not a big fan of other actors talking about politics either. In short: “Actors are pretty stupid.”

“People ask me questions about present situations in life, and I say, ‘I don’t know, I’m just an actor,’” Hopkins told Pitt. “ I don’t have any opinions. Actors are pretty stupid. My opinion is not worth anything. There’s no controversy for me, so don’t engage me in it, because I’m not going to participate.”

https://www.themix.net/2019/12/anthony-hopkins-politics/

“There seems to have been an actual decline in rational thinking. The United States had become a place where dumb entertainers like former Actors aka “has beens!” and former professional athletes aka dumb jocks, were mistaken for people of importance.

They were idolized and treated as leaders; their opinions were sought on everything and they took themselves just as seriously — after all, if an athlete/entertainer is paid a million or more a year, he/she knows he/she is important … so his/her opinions of foreign affairs and domestic policies must be important, too, even though he/she proves themself to be both ignorant and sub literate every time he/she opens their mouth. (Most of his/her fans were just as ignorant and unlettered; the disease was spreading.)”
