Meantime heads are rolling at DOJ. 3 laid off today…trying to find out why. Will tell u this…there are big internal and political battles within the agencies right now. A lot of folks keeping their heads down.
I thought of that exit, but I don’t think so. They originally wanted the house at the end of July and extended to the end of August to accommodate us. I will put it out there, as anything is worth a try. I suspect this new house is going to be a nightmare. I got an email yesterday charging me a $6,000.00 “surcharge” for the extra expenses because of short supplies, because, you know, covid. They have me over a barrel. I need the home. There’s nothing else available. I paid for it in full a couple of months ago. Now they are finding extra expense and are billing the customers. The problem is that if I make life difficult by fighting them on the extra cost, then they can take their sweet time delivering the home. They said yesterday that it isn’t even in production yet.

And as for the extra charges, how can they do that?
There ought to be a law against it as you already have paid for the home and have a contract.
I know, Gran. I was pretty stunned to get the extra charges.
Here’s the thing......if they truly are running into shortages and have to pay higher prices because they have to go to different suppliers, then how long can they expect to survive in business if they have to swallow these costs? I do understand. They are saying they have already absorbed the first 4 surcharges, but can’t continue to and stay in business. I get that. It’s the covid crap and lack of supplies because of it. In the end, who pays for that? We all do, I guess.....plus I’m not in the position to cancel. Frustrating. It’s Fairmont Homes in Indiana.
