Someone needs to tell Mitt Romney, Bill Cassidy, Lisa Murkowski, Rob Portman, Susan Collins and Ben Sasse that we have real problems in America that need fixing. Voting for a time wasting partisan commission that would take time from fixing big issues is not what voters want.

My former sister-in-law was telling me her realtor does this little thing that whenever she lists a house, she goes back to the property when nobody is home and finds a small spot in the garden where she digs a little hole and discreetly buries a small statue of St. Joseph. She says it brings luck, whatever. So, this idea flashed through my mind about burying a Joseph in my own yard. Yes, that’s husband’s name lol. Bad Judy.
He’s a little more compliant today - I think my daughter read him the riot act lol. She needs to put it on a loop so he can listen to it over and over.

I saw what he said, and I’m thinking, I’ve known and known about many Alzheimer’s patients. None of them taking up hospital beds unless something else is going on. They stay at home if there is caretakers or a retirement home.
The vote to advance the bill failed by 54 to 35, well short of the 60 votes needed. Republican Senators Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Rob Portman, Mitt Romney, and Ben Sasse supported advancing the bill. All but Portman voted to convict former President Trump on the impeachment charge of incitement of insurrection in February.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer blasted Republicans for their vote, asking if they had forgotten how the violent mob of Trump supporters had threatened the lives of former Vice President Mike Pence and lawmakers themselves on January 6, and attacked the police officers defending the building.
At least one Republican who supported the bill also expressed frustration with members of their own party. Murkowski said Thursday night it was “disappointing” that an independent commission didn’t appear to be in the offing, and criticized Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for prioritizing electoral politics.
“To be making a decision for the short-term political gain at the expense of understanding and acknowledging what was in front of us on January 6, I think we need to look at that critically. Is that really what this is about, one election cycle after another?” Murkowski said. McConnell has argued publicly that there are already ongoing investigations by congressional committees and the Justice Department, making a bipartisan, independent commission redundant.
Several Democrats have called for eliminating the filibuster, and see this bill as further evidence that bills should be permitted to advance with a simple majority. But Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, the most vocal Democratic opponent of eliminating the filibuster, said Thursday that while it was “frustrating” to see Republican opposition to the bill, he is “not willing to destroy our government.”
Manchin told reporters after the vote on Friday that he was “very frustrated” by the outcome of the vote, and said that he believed it more Republicans would have voted to advance the bill if McConnell hadn’t actively urged his members not to support it.

This is true, no hospital unless something else is wrong.
That’s why my sister who fell and then had to have surgery on her ankle ended up in the hospital.
