NCAA backs biological males competing in women’s sports, as showdown looms with Florida over pending law

The National Collegiate Athletic Association, a cartel controlling the multibillion-dollar college athletics business, may be painting itself into a corner. Probably because it is a creature of the higher education industry that has gone off the deep end in its commitment to far-left politics, the NCAA is taking an extreme position on transgenderism and apparently seeking a confrontation with the State of Florida if it passes a law currently under consideration that would limit participation in women’s sports to biological women.

SNIP

Florida appears to be the trigger for the NCAA’s statement and is the principal object of itss implicit threat to move championship games if its transgender diktat is not followed, as Andrew Atterbury reports in Politico:

The NCAA is “closely” keeping tabs on states including Florida that are moving to ban transgender athletes from playing girls’ sports, warning in a statement Monday that locations that don’t treat all student-athletes with “dignity and respect” could lose out on hosting championship games.

While not mentioning Florida by name, the statement from the NCAA Board of Governors comes just one day before the House is slated to take up its proposal clarifying that female sports teams are specifically for “biological” women and girls. State lawmakers were quick to criticize the NCAA’s ta “When determining where championships are held, NCAA policy directs that only locations where hosts can commit to providing an environment that is safe, healthy and free of discrimination should be selected,” the NCAA Board of Governors wrote in a statement.

Florida’s former Governor. now Senator Rick Scott is not cowering in fear as 2 tweets yesterday demonstrate:

The @NCAA likes to threaten FL and other states. Well, here’s a threat to the NCAA – the American people are not going to allow biological males to compete in women’s sports.

I was highly disappointed when the Administration did away with the Gator Bait cheer because it supposedly has a racist past even though it was popularized by a Black Player from Miami.....

Yep, that’s one of the reasons I pretty much didn’t follow college football last season. And I really don’t care much for it now.

As someone asked on another thread, the NCAA should be asked to explain why there are separate categories men’s and women’s sports teams to begin with if they actually believe this latest move makes sense.

The first time that the ncaa loses their collective minds and pulls an event from a Florida College because of tranny men wanting to compete in a lesbian bra, both the Florida courts and the federal courts are going to destroy them.

The ncaa was in financial trouble before this tar baby, and now they are suffering joe biden disease.

The lopadickoffame surgical procedure is going to be the end of the ncaa.

Does anyone believe that Bruce Jenner, the 1976 Decathlon Gold Medal winner, father of six children, is now a woman?

Jenner is now 69 years old and could beat many women in today's Olympic competition.

The ncaa is insane.

There is no need to put “biological” before “male.” “Male” does not need qualification. Same for “female.” This is a binary decision. Male is NOT female. Female is NOT male.

The organ slicers are now in control.

Money talks or is if the NCAA wants to be part of the power base in colleges they better support this.

Contrary to what pretty much everyone on here said about her, all she wanted to do is have a bill that separated high school girls from college female athletes.

What she wanted was to give young girls in South Dakota a chance. And now South Dakota has nothing.

She wanted a united front to take on the NCAA to make them capitulate instead of seeing them try to boss everyone around and intimidate them, just like they’re doing now.

The first thing they’ll bring up is....oh, your state and city make so much money from our events....that’s the bait. They tout all the tax revenue from sales taxes, hotel taxes, etc. What they don’t tell you is, due to terrorism/security concerns and logistical issues, that most of that money goes to OT for all the cops, firemen and sanitation folks, to name a few. The only folks really making money are the networks broadcasting the event and the schools.

Why hosting the Super Bowl isn’t worth it, according to an economist ...... https://www.businessinsider.com/super-bowl-nfl-football-hosting-cost-worth-host-cities-2019-2

And an event like the Final 4 is the same thing. First, most of the tickets go to corporate entities. Second, then you have 4 sets of fans vying for the remaining tickets. Two teams lose, all those fans, cancel their rooms and head home. You might have a few diehards try to make their way across the country to get into the final game, but it’ll cost a ton of money and for most of the folks with the kind of money that don’t matter, would rather watch the game in their Man Cave on their 85”, 8K flat screen anyway. No lines to the concession or bathroom.

Rather see her implode now than surprise us later, so I’m happy at the outcome, other than it empowered the NCAA and corporations to start demanding other crap.

Agree...this is the type of decision that is going to lead to actual secession. First we will create new sports entities for conservative states, then there will be social and professional organizations from the red states joining together, and finally will come political division...better than a shooting war.

So in time the women’s programs will be like men’s JV or coed intramurals. Negative revenue and internal chaos. Likely the plan all along.

This hatred of women almost looks like it’s being fueled by a certain arab religion.
