“700 years ago most english folks were serfs without virtually any rights at all”

You mean like American folks in 2021?

Then there must be a meaningful ie non discretionary right to carry concealed. The 2nd Amendment clearly explains there is right to keep AND BEAR arms. If you can’t carry openly then you must therefore be able to carry concealed. Otherwise there would be no right to bear and that is unconstitutional.

So I guess all may issue states for CCWs just became shall issue states.

“he fundamental principle that the government assumes primary responsibility for defending persons who enter our public spaces”

I thought it is settled Law that the cops [gov’t] are NOT responsible for YOUR personal safety when you are out and about in public.

Wow, thanks for posting that excerpt and link. I was unaware of the specific decisions and the very clear language. Good stuff!

Love the NEK. We don’t have any police coverage and we don’t need it - we have excavators on speed dial.

Even the ‘bad-ass’ drug dealers from down south know enough to leave before they get to snorkel in a manure pit.

That makes my heart sing.

Things haven’t changed.

The good ole boys used to do a mud pit race once a month after the snow left.

And when there were blow down trees across the road, they were cut up and piled in a ditch before the Town crews even got to them.

The NEK truly is what America could be.

Well, for most of American history, public bearing of arms has been prohibited in many locations

Following the lead of eastern cities, such stalwarts as Marshall Erp, Virgil Cole and many others forbade the carrying of pistols in their towns.

I understand that many, including me, believe in the right to bear arms but.......

How can the Marshall collecting guns in Dodge city be justified as constitutional?

Well actually yes you do have the right to “bear” carry guns in public.

The 9th circus is willfull misreading not only the Constitution, but previous supreme court rulings. I’m reading through their ‘decision’ now. If the idiots on the supreme court don’t take this case, they will just prove their absolute irrelevancy.

BTW, the Ninth Circuit had been notoriously liberal in the pre-Trump era. Trump got to appoint a ton of judges to those slots during a single term as POTUS (by my count, TEN judges appointed to that circuit from 2018-2020!) and supposedly one of his “accomplishments” during his tenure was “flipping the ninth circuit” and giving them a conservative majority so the ninth circuit was “no longer liberal”. I remember FReepers crowing about that “accomplishment” back in 2019:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/02/28/thanks-trump-liberal-ninth-circuit-is-no-longer-liberal/

Sounds like Trump’s lower court nominees were as “good” as his SCOTUS nominees.

But if it makes everyone feel better, let’s blame Bush!

(BTW, George W. Bush appointed a paltry 3 judges to the Ninth Circuit during his two terms as President)

I’d hold back until seeing the makeup of the panel that ruled on this.

Well in case it, it was an 11 judge panel, so it wasn't some Bush appointee going rogue and doing this on his own. Though I agree the Bush judge who wrote the decision should have recused himself from the case if his son committed suicide by gun.

Without Bush RINOS this would not have happened.

“Bybee was joined by another Bush appointee and five Democratic appointees.”

So now our rights are based on the laws that oppressed serfs under a Medieval monarchy?

Didn't we have a revolution along the way to correct this sometime between then and now?

Looking back on 700 years of legal history dating back to 14th century England, seven judges in the majority found “overwhelming evidence” that the law has never given people “an unfettered right to carry weapons in public spaces.”

WHY THE F******* IS THE NINTH CIRCUIT LOOKING OUTSIDE AMERICA TO DETERMINE OUR RIGHTS???!?

Are they next going to cite North Korea as an example???!
