‘Jeopardy!’ Contestants Petition to Remove Dr. Oz as Guest Host
New York Post ^ | March 22, 2021 | Hannah Sparks

But the recent announcement that celebrity M.D. Dr. Oz would be taking over the fact-based game show this week has got fans questioning whether “Jeopardy!” producers have lost their way.

In an open letter published on Medium.com last month, a consortium of former “Jeopardy!” winners and contestants urged the show to rethink the decision, alleging that casting the “dubious” doc in the role would celebrate “the elevation of … talking head[s] at the expense of academic rigor and consensus.”

SNIP

“Throughout his nearly two decades on television he has used his authority as a doctor to push harmful ideas onto the American public, in stark contrast with his oath to first do no harm. These ideas include promoting supplements that do nothing, legitimizing gay conversion therapy (which is banned in California, as well as 19 other states), dangerous ‘cures’ for autism, and, most recently, the use of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19.”

Ken Jennings did his stint and was good. I would support him as the new host.

Mike Richards, the Executive Producer, followed Ken and he was good too. The rest is stunt casting.

Interestingly, Richards is also Executive Producer of Wheel of Fortune, and Pat Sajak is listed as a Consulting Producer — the same title Ken Jennings has with Jeopardy.

Taht may mean something, or it may mean nothing, but I found it interesting.

I agree with you about The Price is Right, but not Jeopardy.

Ken, James, and Brad kind of did create their own, or at least they were involved in one that featured the three of them. That was a fun show.

I admire Jeopardy contestants. I hope to get 49% each night. Some of the questions are poorly written.
James Holz. was the best, by far.
Ken Jennings has a horrible voice and should not be host. Buzzy Cohen would be a good host.

#34. Do you realize that your question about the code of laws known as The Hammurabis is a double-edged oxymoron, contradiction, or whatever.

How can someone be a “rabi” (Jewish teacher, often spelled “rabbi” or “rebbe”) and write a book about Ham and Myrrh/Murr? “Ham” is not a “kosher” food under Jewish law and “Myrrh/Murr” is associated with the birth of Jesus, a Jew who became the person used to create Christianity by his disciples.

Now there was a biblical “Ham/Hamm” but he was not viewed as a good guy so unless the “rabi” was writing about ancient foods and spices, the Code of Hammurabi is a conglomeration of names/words that show you just how convoluted the English language can be.

Now put that up as the “answer” on Jeopardy and watch the contestants go bonkers. That is why they want Dr. Oz to be the host when that “answer” in part of the show.

If this makes any sense, let me know. I’m as confused as the next guy. /SARC

/Sucks = Katie Couric

/Smucks = politically correct nerd contestants and fans who protest anything that is not a figment of their PC millennial warped imagination.

Why? He’s just guest hosting for 2 weeks. Plus, it appears he is conservative.

I’m sure they had to dig around for these anonymous “winners” and “contestants”....

Well, I wouldn’t take there medical advice, anyway. And no Kaley Cuoco.

Yeah, stick with Dr.Fauci. /s

Sorry, even for a joke that was cruel of me. I take it back.

Dang it.

I was hoping they objected because he’s a Moslem.

But no, it’s because sometimes he does unPC things, like promote Hydroxy..... and God forbid, “harm” homos by supporting conversion therapy.

Of course, I’m NEVER for nonsense quackery as in cure-all supplements (drugs).

I’d like to see an actual academic, instead of a ‘celebrity’, in there.

I’m sure they can find one who is sufficiently ‘personable’...

One of my coworkers talked about him some years ago. I thought he was talking about Doc Ock (Doctor Octopus, a villain from Spiderman).

Alex Trebek was an actor. He was bright and personable, but I wouldn’t call him an intellectual.

They need someone smart enough to handle the job, but not necessarily an academic. There is a performance element to the job, and many academics couldn’t perform if their lives depended on it.

Being a game show host requires a specific skill set. Alex had it in spades. They need to find someone who has as many of those skills as possible.
