Q describes this awakening as follows:

"Free thought" is a philosophical viewpoint which holds that positions regarding truth should be formed on the basis of logic, reason, and empiricism, rather than authority, tradition, revelation, or dogma.
When you are awake, you are able to clearly see.
The choice is yours, and yours alone.

Oh, thank you. Yes, I avoided reading that and didn’t realize you had posted it.
I love elephants. Good and decent people hate to see anyone suffer at the hands of others, especially those who are helpless and cannot escape or defend themselves. Yes, I remember that freedom discussion; just when my eyes saw something about elephants suffering I just skipped a bunch. When I was small and I was reading Babar books (I was maybe 4?) someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said “an elephant”. I thought I could be one, I guess, the ones in the books were so nice.
My experiences with the priests were only good. The nuns, not so much. Most that I ran into in school were nasty and seemed to enjoy hurting the kids with the snapping of their yardsticks on our tiny knuckles and fingers for the smallest infractions.

I heard the story second hand but that hand being Glenn Beck. I have been spread thin of late so a bit behind. However, Beck and his people seemed specific that it was part of this new Pentagon and this new defense secretary; I believe the actual attack was from an underling, not the Secretary.
Still, there are moves to reorganize the military, reportedly to remove Trump supporters... while welcoming transgendered people and such to the fighting ranks, also apparently pregnant women in combat situations.
Anyone who has ever been in combat knows that the unit is the backbone of an effective fighting force and unit cohesion is the backbone there. All this meddling is to weaken our fighting force by disrupting the esprit de corpse.
What I do know is that it was against the rules for a top serving officer to be eligible for the Secretary position for a number of years - BUT our great Republican Party pitched in to grant an exception, right when it may be the least productive time.
Sooner or later people are going to have to face the truth: national security and unity are the last things on the Demo'rat priority list.
