Okay, this going w-a-y back, but might help with sleep. And way before my time. LOL The screen is dark-ish but it does have a flickering fireplace.

Don’t have a background in pharmaceuticals, sorry.
However I will guess that using an ingredient from just one wrong 55 gal drum could possibly ruin that many doses.
Not a youngster, but....*that* was before my time :-)
Speaking of homemade toys....
We used to play ‘beauty shop’....outside....we’d lean lawn chairs back, against the iron porch railing (amazing we didn’t fall back and crack our heads), then use the water hose as the ‘sink/faucet’ to wash each other’s hair. It was cold, at first, but you were used to the water temp by creme rinse time (remember creme rinse??).
And, since we had the water hose on, and were near the yard/flower beds....we’d then make mud pies, and set them out to “bake”, along the raised brick flower beds.
(We needed more than our hair washed, after that!)
Yep.....a piece of chalk in our pockets and a skate key (on a long shoe string)....remember those? around our neck. Set for a day of play.
Especially with the bag of marbles. Remember the coveted cat’s eye boulder and steelies? Those were prized marbles, in our group.
Never played “beauty shop” but played “restaurant” a lot.
Mom would wonder where the food was going as we fed the neighborhood kids.
We would make the coolest cloths line house using all the blankets in the cupboard and the tall window screens before dad put them on the windows in the summer.
We all knew how to make our own fun, didn’t we?
After my parents separated, my mom and my aunt joined forces. Mom was divorced with 2 kids in the 70s and my aunt was widowed with no kids. So Mom went to work in a factory and my aunt kept house and ran a beauty shop out of the house so she could be home with us. My Mom was a beautician before she married so she could do hair, too. The shop the sink, reclining chair and a hair dryer.
THIS kind of hair dryer!!!
My hair was always professionally done when I was growing up. Of course, it also looked like an old woman's hair.
Our shoes were leather and I remember that they all were all messed up where we tightened the skate to keep it on.
Remember using a clothes pin to attach a playing card to your bikes spokes?
Loved the sound it made.
Yours was the pattern we used as kids. We added another bonus circle at the top of the ten.
Oh my goodness....I remember those roller skates with the clamps on the side and the key around the neck lol. And the piece of cardboard or playing card on the bike spokes lol. And the streamers and the bell (I suspect they’re still around).
I remember playing “hairdresser” once. There was this stuff called Dippety Doo I saw advertised on tv. You slapped it in your hair then put the roller in. It dried along with your hair drying and then held your curls. Well, my mother wouldn’t buy Dippety Doo, so I thought that the pot of Vaseline in the bathroom would do about the same thing.....it looked similar. Lolo what a mess! I had to go to the hairdresser twice to get the stuff completely washed out of my head lol. It would have been cheaper for my mother to buy the Dippety Doo in the first place!
That’s me! Those are my skates, s&sf! And my legs! And I had a dress like that! I just don’t recognize that sofa lol.
LOL
We roller skated in the basement.
My hair wound up being professionally done, but only because of the Vaseline setting gel lol.
