Just for fun, I went back to see who won the straw poll for CPAC 2013 (since it was 4 years away from the 2016 election).
Rand Paul 25%
Marco Rubio 23%
Rick Santorum 8%
Chris Christie 7%
2013 was the first year that President Trump spoke at CPAC if I recall correctly. So I took a look at the 2015 CPAC straw poll.
Rand Paul 25.7%
Scott Walker 21.4%
Ted Cruz 11.5%
Ben Carson 11.4%
Jeb! 8.3%
Rick Santorum 4.3%
Marco Rubio 3.7%
Donald Trump 3.5%

If this were to happen, would Trump’s term be cut short by Biden’s time in his office? Trump would then have to ramp up his new staff & undo the things Biden has already put in place. That would take time.
I should think POTUS would get a third term.

There are signs that Trump has learned his lesson: last week he refused to endorse David Perdue to run again in Georgia. And he refused a photo op with Nikki Haley.
Trump can remake the GOP simply by refusing to endorse the establishment.
Does Trump want to do it?
