Beto O'Rourke is back is the spotlight as Texas continues to face a statewide crisis.
Hundreds of thousands of Texans remain without power Thursday morning as millions more deal with burst pipes and other consequences of unprecedented winter weather. O'Rourke, the former 2020 Democratic presidential and 2018 Texas Senate candidate, has been making the TV rounds to call out the Republicans who've shifted the blame for the power shortages — and is organizing to check in on senior citizens throughout it all.
On Wednesday night, O'Rourke announced he and volunteers had made more than 150,000 wellness calls to seniors throughout the state. And in an interview with CNN, he called out Republicans, including Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who have inaccurately placed most of the blame for the power failures on Texas' renewable energy sources.

ted cruz chaperoned his daughter to cancun, beto will escort his daughter to the abortionist.
i will still support cruz over the beta male...
No, it is the bad ones, like Lyn’ Ted, that shoot themselves in the foot. Not all Republicans are as easily discredited and deserving of criticism.
Hey Chris. How ya doin?
Fine Ted. And you?
I think more Democrats shoot themselves in the foot and worse. The MSM magnifies the snafus of Party R while burying the sins of Party D.
The media is using you and you are obliging.
Texas will recover from this.
Will our economy recover from the Covid Lockdowns?
And why do I bring those up?
Because the same media that wants you to be outraged over Cruz’s trip had NOTHING to say about the political class violating THEIR lockdown orders that DESTROYED lives. Governors literally ordered people to their deaths in nursing homes and we are talking about a trip to Cancun by a guy who doesn’t have any power to do anything in Texas?
Gee, it couldn’t be that the Dems snd media are trying to deflect attention from something could it.
But hey, they are relying on you so go to town.
And he should shave that chit off his face
How many Democrats were already in Cancun ?
Maybe yes, maybe no, but as soon as I heard that Cruz was basking in the sun, I’d go out in the cold with cameras and act helpful. Because I would know it would help me, and hurt Cruz. This is kindergarten level political savvy.
He just committed career suicide.

There you have it. Yahoo sez it it's inaccurate to blame renewables, so it must be inaccurate.
Beto is a leader. Ted is not. Beto’s actions show this.
Ted made a bad choice. He needs to be a man, a leader.
Maybe Texas deserves the likes of Beto and Lyn’ Ted?
Democratic politicians do too, just the mainstream media doesn’t give it the same amount of breathless coverage.
Senators are not leaders. That’s why they make for bad Presidents.
Name one that stood with the citizens to oppose Mike Lee’s Indian Importation bill........
...you can’t, because there weren’t any.
I accept your premise. Bad optics and bad politics.
However, I also submit that part of our problem as a nation is that we look towards DC to fix our problems. Texas is one of the largest states and one of the largest economies in the world. How/why this falls to the feet of a US Senator is beyond me.
I further submit that this is the kind of hit job BS our media uses to deflect the follies of green energy madness and weaken republicans. It works every time.
It is a diversion. Instead of talking about how bad the green energy grid has been in Texas and how utilities and the governor’s administration has focused on that rather than making sure the grid and production would not completely collapse during a rare, but entirely predictable, weather event here we are bashing Ted Cruz.
What is the solution for Cruz’s lack of political sensitivity? Oh, I know, a democrat senator for Texas would make things much better.
As someone who has responded to disasters of this type I can tell you first-hand that the last thing you want are VIP’s running around pulling resources from those on the ground trying to help. While I suppose it makes for good media and politics if he ladles some soup at a kitchen or drops off bottled water somewhere it really does not amount to a hill of beans.
I am not even so much defending Cruz as simply pointing out how ridiculous it is that we expect congress to fix a problem within a powerful state. Cruz does not even make the top 1000 list of people responsible for this and yet the media is successfully using this story to deflect attention from the real failures in Texas and in their energy grid.
What is he supposed to do to end the problem? He can talk with his staff and help with constituent issues, but Senators rarely if ever get personally involved in those and he can do that by phone.
If this were Cory Booker the media would be fawning about how/why he is monitoring the situation by phone as he fulfills a promise to his daughters to take them on a vacation. Probably a bad example since Booker would be rushing to get in front of every camera he could find to blame Trump, but you get my intent.
No.
Cruz did something really dumb. Not on purpose or malicious just a dumb choice .
If a Dem did this, we would 100% be criticizing them.
Cruz is a good guy and super smart .
I would be highly certain he just had a brain fart and didn’t see how bad this was going to look. And if he could have a do over he would not have gone.
What about his mullet? Did you know that Ted is now channeling his 80's bad ass self?
Kudos to Beto. Smart move on his part.
