Plunging temperatures in Texas caused several power plants to go offline in rapid succession Sunday, shortly before midnight. This triggered an emergency on the Texas power grid and led about two million homes to lose electricity.
The unusual cold is expected to stick around until at least Tuesday. This means it could take a while to get the grid back to normal operations.

Industry officials were scrambling to restore power at dozens of natural gas and coal plants, which tripped offline on Sunday evening and Monday morning. They asked residents to conserve electricity.

Thank you, PJ. That’s the ticket.
Same coming to Nevada......
FINALLY someone with the correct answer.

They’ve let it be known that they have their own power grid, and thus theoretically wouldn’t need to rely on federal or other grids. Their A.G. and Gov. Abbott have taken strong steps toward putting the kibbosh on some of BiteOne’s EOs, as well as federally-initiated gun grab attempts.
Now this. Odd.
“Even the natural gas and coal plants went offline.”
Because they were overloaded - couldn’t make up for the loss of power from those non-operable solar cells and frozen windmills.
Yes, I got that in comment 16. Thanks.
The idea is that once they have everything, it will collapse. Witness: Venezuela, Zimbabwe, USSR, et al......................
