Today is a very rough day, fighting through HR department to add my husband to insurance, already upload marriage cert now on hold for 2nd time because I got cut off the 1st time. I feel overwhelmed with paper work for my husband and his health issue. never ending pile.

My issue with a straight up tariff is that it’s fertile ground for politicians and “economists” to wade into and muck up the discussion to the point that people split to closely and the corporations and politiworms carry their way.
I think if the “tariff” was that products entering the country had to either meet or exceed our regulatory (environment, labor, health and safety) standards OR pay the cost difference as the tariff that it would have the intended result plus we’d have the optics of being able to argue the point with images of sweat shop children and industrial concentration camps.

There was also a mechanical explosion at a hospital in NE DC last week that sounds like a legit accident, as well as an accident at a Beltsville recycling warehouse that happened when a gas tank was put through a shredder at a recycling facility. (Oops.).

That, overall is a large part of the problem. The large corporation has ready access to absurd leveraged debt that allows it to vacuum up similar or competitive products makers, shift the production to in house or overseas and shutter the target. Pacific Lumber (?IIRC) was a textbook example. They had several hundred thousand acres of old growth redwood that in operation they would remain essentially sustainable at their harvest rate. They were publicly traded though, and raiders noted that the asset value (including the trees) was grossly over the stock price valuation so they issued a pile of debt, took it over and started mowing down the trees as fast as they could to pay off the bonds. People flipped out and “legislated” a fix, but that fix included taxpayers buying off on a huge portion of if not most of all of that debt to save some big parcels of the trees and ratchet back the cut rate.

Well that is why I asked for clarification-because what you wrote was not clear and could be taken more than one way.
And what I also said was that what I am hearing from others is that lying won’t do any good, because the good ole boys already know who is who - it’s their club and you ain’t in it.
And those already in charge, if they have recognized the problem will be busy changing the rules to try to keep their hold on power. You have to be elected to precinct chair, and there ain’t any elections, cause we just had one.
