The Confederates formed their country really fast considering the technology they had back then. I doubt if Texas was to succeed that they could even come close to the speed in which the Confederates States succeeded. Our government can’t even get simple bills through Congress in a timely matter.

I suspect Texas would have very strict immigration policies and border security along all Texas borders would be very tight.
If they succeed I will move there. I have been wanting to move there anyway since two of my kids live there.
I meant that the way now in Austin would immigrate. Maybe all that newly cheap real estate in NYC would attract them?
Many will go on about the natural resources of Texas, current budget, etc. However, it may be a fools proposition to think the other 49 states will take so kindly to succession and the additional burdens they would be subject to. There are tremendous federal dollars and benefits that the residents of a new independent state would no longer have access to, or would have to pay for very dearly. Not to mention new requirements for treaties, tariffs, and other infrastructure currently funded by or provided by a federal government.
Not saying it's a bad idea, but the devil is in the details and it does not appear to be well thought out prior to the push for execution.
Yes, it may be an effective gesture or threat. But I hope they’re really looking at it. Our only hope is in the states right now.

The bottom line is that this bill will never get out of the legislature.

Texas also has no state personal income tax, so it is easy to simply discontinue taxpayer federal returns and begin Texas state returns to keep their own money in-state.
Every state should have an emergency plan to go it alone or in a regional group of states anyway. To not have a Texit type plan is a measure of gross neglect and incompetence by governors and state lawmakers.

Yes, they did. But, the division in the country had been brewing for many years (like now). Pulling the trigger to leave was was easy. I’m sure all the “i’s” were not dotted when they made the move, but it was far enough along that they were able to form a government and an army that held off the other side, while badly outnumbered, for 4 years.
When the commies finally figure out how much money (and power) they are going to lose as a result and pitch a fit, he can just refer them to the criminals on the SC. They can fight it out!
It could be a very viable economy.
They can deport all the illegals.
Old people will leave for states where they can get Medicare coverage and there will be a surplus of cheap housing.
The wall along the Oklahoma border will be a Great Wall and don’t forget about the walls along the borders of Louisiana, Arkansas and New Mexico.

I grew up in Dallas. Wouldn’t go back even if everything was free.
However, of the 254 counties there, almost 1/3 are 2nd Amendment sanctuary counties & & are upfront traditional thinking Texans. Just steer clear from the Metro areas..
