In a court filing late Monday, Cici's blamed its Chapter 11 filing on the "unpredictable and unprecedented scale" of the pandemic, which decimated its bottom line and customer demand because it relies heavily on its dining rooms.
The Texas-based company has more than 300 locations in 26 states — a sharp decrease from the roughly 650 restaurants it owned about a decade ago. Cici's dropped "pizza" from its name in 2015 and expanded its menu to focus on its unlimited soup, salad and dessert options. The company was bought by Arlon, a food and agriculture investment firm, a year later.

What can make the difference is finding the best temperature and time works for what you are cooking it in. Often it is not what they recommend on their paxkaging, that’s just a generic time and setting.
Some people also cook right on the rack, or on a pizza stone, preheated.
Higher end frozen pizzas can be pretty good.
Lotzza Motzza pizzas are one of the better choices. Some of the more “brick oven” style pizzas have a good crust.
The cheaper and more obviously mass produced frozen pizzas often dissapoint. The higher end ones when cooked properly can be pretty good.
In the mid-70s, when I was in HS a Chinese take out joint across the street from my HS, was closed. I don’t recall if it was closed by the local department of health, but the rumour was that they found cat meat in the chicken chow main. It might have been true, but the rumour WAS in a HS.
Wouldn’t surprise me at all.
Some locations were decent, most are horrible. Not a big loss.
Guess I’m a real rube, I like buffets and cafeterias, both hard to come by these days.
True. And I always doctor up a frozen pizza with extra pepperonis, cheese and etc.
Ever get a take and bake pizza from Sam’s Club? Better than most pizza chain restaurants.
We noticed yesterday that one of the local ChuckECheeses had closed, and the space is for lease.
Cici's has been heading downhill since the investment bankers got their claws in it in 2016.
I'm not familiar with the Cici's deal, but the usual pattern is 1) investment banker takeover; 2) suck it dry; 3)prop it up until the clock can run; 4) bankruptcy; 5) investment banker takeover.
A company is usually good for a couple of cycles until the husk is discarded an a new target located.
Real deep dish!!!!!

Too many of Chuck E.’s relatives found in the kitchen?
I used to like going there. It depends on what you order. Years ago I was in New Jersey on business for a week. We were wined and dined the first three nights, and the last night we were on our own. After all that rich food, I was ready for something more humble, so off I went to the OCB. It probably looked impressive in on the expense report, too.
I went to Denny’s in the summer and they had a limited menu which looked like they printed it up in the back. Went back recently and they are back to a full menu. They have put up plastic barriers between the booths so they can seat more folks and resumed 24 hour operations. The Chinese buffet across the street is doing good business.
Yes, but we were discussing high end restaurants, 4 stars type places. That’s a whole different kettle of fish.
Went to CiCi’s numerous times.
After all...it was for the chilluns.
Went in one once.
Looked around and left.
Hunger wasn’t quite that bad that I had to eat their crap.
Frozen pizza can be great, depending on how you cook it. I have a $1K Breville pizza oven that reaches 700 degrees and it always produces a good pizza, frozen or freshly made. But you don’t need to spend that much. Amazon sells the Presto Pizzaz Plus Rotating Pizza oven for $60 which cooks frozen pizza perfectly. It’s amazingly good and has over 8,500 five star reviews.
I remember when one opened near me in PG Co, MD. I ate there once and never returned.
One of the worst pizza places ever IMHO!!!!
I don't know about that but with a combo of GroupOn plus CiCi coupons, the meals were incredibly CHEAP.
The hardest part of leaving Illinois was giving up the food. I learned how to make both at home. There are some excellent tutorials on Youtube.
