Followers of the extremist ideology QAnon saw their hopes once again dashed Wednesday as President Donald Trump left Washington on the final day of his presidency, without any of the climactic scenes of violence and salvation that the sprawling set of conspiracy theories had preached for years would come.
As Trump boarded Air Force One for his last presidential flight to Florida, many QAnon adherents - some of whom had earlier this month stormed the Capitol in a siege that left at least two QAnon devotees dead and others in jail - began to wonder whether they'd been duped all along.

Do you really think Free Republic needs to emulated the Left’s cancel culture and “get rid of” everyone YOU don’t agree with?
I appreciate you writing that and I do believe you.
I am in the camp that he has something wrong with him. This is based on the lawsuit against him by his former partners. Something clearly has been going on with him that didnt have anything to do with the election.
btw, he added a plaintiff to one of his election lawsuits without his permission
This is not allowed and could get you disbarred
I have not seen his version of how that came about.
Admittedly I blew them off before the election too, but since Jan 6 I have zero patience for them. See my post at 160.
Could be but they weren’t the original group. The group that started it said that they were trying to a moral boost, nothing malicious intended. It took off like a rocket and they really had to scramble to figure out what to post next. It took on a life of its own and got away from them.
“Can we get rid of the Qtards now?”
No they were victims. I am sure a lot of them realize it now.
Some of the Q related post appear to be very believable with General Flynn and General McInerney repeating the Q story line. Both of them held very high positions in the Government.
There is a lot of stuff that happens in government we do not know about. When we hear something from Generals we are more likely to believe them.
I did not say that Trump did it himself. But he was well aware of it. He certainly was aware of why he was saying “Tip Top” live and in person.
Thanks for that.
the woman that was killed was a big L Lin Wood Follower. It would be interesting to know if she saw his post that said something like ...they are in..pence to the front of the firing line...
or if she was just a victim of John Earle Sullivan egging her on.
You’re missing the point.
It would seem like the people at the highest levels of power in our government would have had the best information to not allow themselves to get caught up with a bunch of goofy trolls.
And yet - as I watched Trump’s last 2 months and the riot 2 weeks ago ... it looks like that’s what happened.
True. I chalked Flynn’s endorsement of Q as him being punch drunk after fighting nonstop legal battles for years. It can break any man.
And McInenery could be chalked up to being senile. He’d already shot his reputation when he talked about the Malaysian flight. I said this at the time and of course was accused of working for Antifa.
People wanted to believe really bad, just like Mulder’s poster on the X-Files.
Yes - my family member felt like she was following Trump’s orders.
He fed into their delusion.
It was a very dangerous - and stupid - game.
It’s a weird sort of mental illness?
Or there is something about the cult that attracts an unstable mind?
No, regular people fell for it too.
My take:
Back when it started in late 2017, the Trump base was getting anxious. He wasn’t locking her up, draining the swamp, or building the wall at the time. People WANTED to believe these things were really going on and that made them vulnerable to grifters. You either live in the painful cognitive dissonance of voting for a candidate who is not following through on his signature promises, OR you take the Hopium and feel better.
So it’s more like an addictive drug
Our country has been controlled by corrupt forces for a very long time. Even President Eisenhower warned about the military industrial complex. Call it the deep state, the CIA or whatever but our country has been slowly penetrated by forces that have gradually took control of our government. The politicians were won over to the donor class instead of the people who elect them.

Yup. Trump was struggling from day 1. But some people wanted to believe that all the defeats and setbacks were actually part of some amazing 4D chess plan.
I think part of it was people trying to rationalize Trump’s 2017 problems.
Another group was people attracted to “secret knowledge”, and “things are not what they seem”
