WASHINGTON — The National Park Service is shutting down public access to the Washington Monument until Jan. 24, citing threats surrounding Joe Biden’s inauguration.
The agency said Monday that it was implementing the temporary closure “in response to credible threats to visitors and park resources.”
Meanwhile, the National Guard says it will increase troops in DC to at least 10,000 by Saturday to boost security ahead of inauguration.
Park officials say that groups involved in last week’s riot at the U.S. Capitol are continuing to “threaten to disrupt” Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20. As a result, officials are shutting down tours at the Washington Monument beginning Monday, running through Jan. 24.

I went to FR’s ‘Rally for America’ back in 2002...met lots of great Freepers and Congressman Bob Dornan, BUT that city was a sh*thole then...looked like Beirut, especially the people. My wife and I were HAPPY AS HELL to find ourselves westbound on I-66 at day’s end.

10,000 troops seems like a decent attendance for an aged and fading act...
Seems the democrats are scared to death, given all the National Guard they called for. That is just silly. The inauguration will go smoothly. That is not to say people do not know what the democrats did in this election in terms of fraudulent votes. But conservatives are more civil.
It would be tragically funny if the National Guard ended up as the audience for Biden on the 20th. Dictators love having their army present for major occasions.

Now let's be 20 miles away and be there in 20 minutes. This is just for show. Where were these guys when NYC was being ravaged...and no one was even arrested.
An inauguration calling for unity with thousands of soldiers there to ensure unity...they are very evil, dangerous traitors. I pray President Trump acts to end the real insurrection and takes his rightful place as our President. He won the election, the people need to demand it!
I went there a couple times as a kid in the early 1980’s and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m sure it would be a scary miserable experience nowadays. Glad I got to go when I did.
They are just trying to set up excuses for the ghost town empty inauguration to come. It was all the fault off those Trumpers.
