After Parler was shut down i've heard many people say that FreeRepublic could also be targeted especially under the Democrats.
I've been thinking about it and I reckon FR should be safe...
Here's why:
1) FR is a News/Links/Discussion site. It's NOT some massive social media platform.
2) FR is Moderated. Trolls and troublemakers are booted and the site complies with the law (copyright, etc)
3) Jim has been in this game for over 20 YEARS. He knows what it takes to keep the site online.
That said we have no idea what the Dems have in store.
I don't like the sound of this "domestic terror" law they're talking about and it could be too easy to take an isolated post on here and perversely label it 'terrorism' (under an expanded definition).
Any assault on the First Amendment will be met with massive legal action and I will be happy to donate to a legal fund if FR needs it or indeed any other site..
So while the Democrats want to eliminate opposition and clamp down on free speech I think FR will be able to weather the storm and prevail!
Thoughts?
I have the special kind, the one used to patch up the hole in my wallet..
It worked great except it was the top of the wallet and not the bottom...
I now use the wallet as a door stop

We maybe spoke, those were good times.
Good idea. How about pig latin? Onglay ivelay Eefray Epublicray!
Or we can go with an elven language from LOTR.
IF Biden is inaugurated — and I still don’t believe he will — I don’t think FR is safe at all. Well, FR might be safe, but we won’t unless we stick to topics like Thanksgiving recipes, kitten videos, and ugliest car threads.
They do. They've been undermining America in other ways while waiting to be called on to take down hard-core patriots. Some are interns for America's enemies, others moved on to practice overthrowing other governments before taking a shot at overthrowing our own. Some are still living in Mommy's Basement, playing video games while they wait to find themselves.
I am just cannon fodder now mate, but until that time I shall say and do as I can here as best As can...
Most these ppl have not done service, or thought about shtf stuff..
Scared people are those that have not got the Intel that calms and gives them hope.
Many many on here are better wordsmiths than myself... Though seeing me chstvgives them rise to the occasion as well, and do morale grows... Team building from the lowest common denominator... Fear and uncertainty.
To be on the internet, even if you own your own servers, you are paying some large telecom corporate entity for access.
The big boys aren’t playing by the “rules” any longer.
They can shut down anyone at any time without cause.....
None of which will matter one whit to the anti-Constitutional radicals taking power and their allies in the court system.
Old Slow Joe is going to suspend Constitutional rights to “protect the nation”. Nothing is safe.
Regulating how much bandwidth that sites can use, based upon how "essential" they are (for as the BBC warned, "One study estimated that 10 years ago, the average Australian internet user was responsible for the equivalent of 81kg (179lbs) of carbon dioxide (CO2e) being emitted into the atmosphere." There is even a โCarbonalyserโ add-on that allows the user to visualize the electricity consumption and greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions that your Internet browsing leads to.)
Sites that already can be judged as violating Terms of Use type agreements which forbids anything that "promotes or incites bigotry, hatred or racism; (c) might be legally actionable for any reason, (d) is objectionable for any reason..." could be penalized via reduced bandwidth, and or delisted in search engines or even by DNS servers.
All it would take is for internet backbone companies like Cisco to adopt the same policies as the rest of big tech. Poof your gone.
Here's what to expect from Social Credit Score apps:
1) Carrying a smart phone at all times will be mandatory;
2) How Does China's Social Credit System Work? - YouTube
He lived in China for 10 years - his handle means 'foreigner' - what Chinese call everyone who is not Chinese, even when they are visiting another country.
Most attacks on FR (If I am assuming correctly) have been DoS (Denial of Service) attacks
I think we need to ask Jim if we can all change our screen names.
True, but it's far too late for many of us at this point.
The Maoists...in and out of government...feel invincible right now....kinda like the Stasi in the 1970s.
>>>2) FR is Moderated. Trolls and troublemakers are booted<<<
We sure have a lot of NeverTrumpers posting . . . Deep Staters pretending to be FReepers. (I call them FLeepers).
