After Parler was shut down i've heard many people say that FreeRepublic could also be targeted especially under the Democrats.
I've been thinking about it and I reckon FR should be safe...
Here's why:
1) FR is a News/Links/Discussion site. It's NOT some massive social media platform.
2) FR is Moderated. Trolls and troublemakers are booted and the site complies with the law (copyright, etc)
3) Jim has been in this game for over 20 YEARS. He knows what it takes to keep the site online.
That said we have no idea what the Dems have in store.
I don't like the sound of this "domestic terror" law they're talking about and it could be too easy to take an isolated post on here and perversely label it 'terrorism' (under an expanded definition).
Any assault on the First Amendment will be met with massive legal action and I will be happy to donate to a legal fund if FR needs it or indeed any other site..
So while the Democrats want to eliminate opposition and clamp down on free speech I think FR will be able to weather the storm and prevail!

Heck I’m old enough to remember the days before the Internet. I use to chat with other conservatives on CB and HAM Radio. Before all is said and done we might be back to that...
Easiest to be done at the NIC level via DNS lookup ordering. If DNS always resolves to 0.0.0.0 for all those embedded snoopy scripts hosts, then they all go blind. Don’t have to rely on browsers and app based blockers.
Reasons 1 and 2 don’t matter. They will ban anything Republican, Trump, American and conservative for any excuse they invent or even none at all. All that matters is IF they can.
I was taught in English class that “should” is a request for someone to behave morally. Anybody who believes that morals and decency will have anything to do with what happens in America from this point forward should take a look at some land I have for sale in Florida.

Honestly it can be done or already has been done and you don’t even know it. Pretty easily too.
One of my daughters once dated an I.T. Expert.........he used his CPU and showed me how easy it was to take my Yahoo fake name and find out who I was and where I live. It was fast and without any fancy programs.
If the Democrats end the filibuster and move forward with legislation to pack the Supreme Court you will know how civil liberties will play out. Today the Constitution means whatever the majority of justices say it means. Add three more hard left justices to the court in the next six months and there will be laws passed eviscerating the second amendment, hate speech laws, laws restricting due process rights, and laws facilitating government surveillance as well as easier search and seizure of private property.
Hate speech laws, approved by the Supreme Court, will be used to silence dissent. Websites will be taken down and their owners economically destroyed. The emergence of another Trump will be impossible, since the state will be able to define anything it wishes as hate speech.
I’m thinking they might go after the PP account or CC processing affecting donations.
Better yet. Set up your own local DNS server. There aren’t that many sites I visit or use.

If there was any discussion/coordination on FR prior to the Capitol demonstrations, it will be targeted to be shut down.

There are 6 ways to skin the cat on this. I do have a DNS server running on my firewall server but for most people just using a PC, the host file method is simple for them to implement.
