Is it still honorable to serve?
A lot of times the recruits join the military because of dead end lives and in a rut of zero expectations. The military is a method to learn a skill and get the heck out of a small town of limited opportunities. In exchange for a life in the service, the recruit will shut the heck up and follow orders. The navy is a way to see the world. Special Forces combat is another story. I do not know how to evaluate the mind of a guy who wants to be a highly specialized combat soldier.
Your post moves me to comment on the “Thank you for your service” remark that is so commonly directed at veterans.
I’ve never uttered that phrase. Their service to the country is no better than my service to the bank that I’ve worked at for the last 27 years. No one routinely thanks me for my service. It’s just a job. Whether you work in a bank or for the US Army.
Thank you for your service? Yes certainly, if wounded or injured fighting in battle for my freedoms. Otherwise, it’s just a job.

It’s a certain career path with good benefits. If that’s why you’re joining, that’s cool.
Literally fighting for the right to vote, freedom of speech, religion, bear arms, peaceably assemble??? Sorry. That train just left the station.
Honorable? Then you don’t understand what’s truly just happened in our country.

Unfortunately the military particularly the higher ups and the academies have been inundated with leftist and Marxist thought.
Presidents and Congresses come and go. So do corporations. So do voting machines. Things will look different in 2023 or 2025 if you keep working to make things better. In the meantime, you don’t want the country to be taken over by China, do you?
Once our kids stop enlisting they will fill the ranks with mean misfits. Our kids hone their skills hunting and fishing just like our forefathers. England had the best provisioned troops in the world. Top class military. Yet a bunch of farmers vanquished them.
It’s honorable to serve this country. But doing it under biden/obammy/jezebel would be a dishonor.
I’ve become sorry that I did.
I’m feeling very conflicted right now. I work for DHS and I believe in that mission, but as far as I’m concerned Biden is a fraud.
I love what I do and I have unfinished business with the programs I manage. It would break my heart to walk away now, but there may come a time when I have to do that.
It you’ve sworn an oath you should hang in there until your tour is over but I’d think long and hard about whether to re-enlist or not in these circumstances. If things smooth over you can always re-up at later date
We are at the end of this country. What follows is a fascist tyranny checked only be regular assassinations of the current leaders. Those activities will be conducted by various factions of Leftists, who know full well that the laws and election results mean nothing. But they are really good at "direct action". They will do what they know works, and they will have continued backing from major Corporations and factions within Government Agencies as long as they select the right targets.
The violence inevitably will be blamed on a "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy" (tm). The police will round up the usual suspects after each incident and the replacement politicians will proudly announce "stern new measures to stop the Wreckers and the Deplorables". Until the next incident.
Best assume that all Government organizations and large Corporations are hostile entities and avoid their attentions as much as possible.
I winced when she asked me if that would be a good plan. I told her it could be either a good plan or unwise depending on who is running our government.
Honestly, that was painful.
I wonder if the government is using the military to serve its agenda to silence citizens. If so, nope, its not honorable.
