I think they're giving the protesters too much credit. Some them have already been identified as members of fringe groups, and their behavior seemed more akin to Ken Kesey's "Merry Pranksters" or Abbie Hoffman's protesting-is-theatre philosophy. (I'm showing my age.)

Trump was an idiot to ask people to come to DC for a rally. What happened was forseeable. I forsaw it and posted against it weeks ago. There has never been a MAGA rally in DC that didn’t end in antifa violence with MAGA tarred for the blame. Trump was an idiot not to know that. I pray for him and am grateful for the good things he accomplished or tried to accomplish over 4 years, but he was a massive tool to encourage and get involved with this rally
