Bible in a Year:
How many are your works, Lord!
âI know where God lives,â our four-year-old grandson told my wife, Cari. âWhere is that?â she asked, her curiosity piqued. âHe lives in the woods beside your house,â he answered.
When Cari told me about their conversation, she wondered what prompted his thinking. âI know,â I responded. âWhen we went for a walk in the woods during his last visit, I told him that even though we canât see God, we can see the things Heâs done.â âDo you see the footprints Iâm making?â I had asked my grandson as we stepped through a sandy place by a river. âThe animals and the trees and the river are like Godâs footprints. We know that Heâs been here because we can see the things Heâs made.â
The writer of Psalm 104 also pointed to the evidence for God in creation, exclaiming âHow many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creaturesâ (v. 24). The Hebrew word for wisdom found here is often used in the Bible to describe skillful craftsmanship. Godâs handiwork in nature proclaims His presence and makes us want to praise Him.
Psalm 104 begins and ends with the words: âPraise the Lordâ (vv. 1, 35). From a babyâs hand to an eagleâs eye, our Creatorâs artistry all around us speaks of His consummate skill. May we take it all in with wonder todayâand praise Him for it!
Reflect & Pray
Where do you see Godâs handiwork in creation? How might you point someone to itâand to Himâtoday?
I praise You for all Youâve made, God! Help me to live in wonder at Your wisdom and goodness today.

Ping...because I forgot. LOL!
Bible in a Year:
Come, follow me.
Over several years, a British couple living in West Africa developed a strong friendship with a man in their town and many times shared the love of Jesus and the story of salvation with him. Their friend, however, was reluctant to relinquish the lifetime of allegiance he had to another religion, even though he came to recognize that faith in Christ was âthe greater truth.â His concern was partly financial, since he was a leader in his faith and depended on the compensation he received. He also feared losing his reputation among the people in his community.
With sadness, he explained, âIâm like a man fishing with my hands in a stream. I have caught a small fish in one, but a bigger fish is swimming by. To catch the bigger fish, I have to let go of the smaller one!â
The rich young ruler Matthew wrote about in Matthew 19 had a similar problem. When he approached Jesus, he asked, âWhat good thing must I do to get eternal life?â (v. 16). He seemed sincere, but he didnât want to fully surrender his life to Jesus. He was rich, not only in money, but also in his pride of being a rule-follower. Although he desired eternal life, he loved something else more and rejected Christâs words.
When we humbly surrender our life to Jesus and accept His free gift of salvation, He invites us, âCome, follow meâ (v. 21).
Reflect & Pray
What one thing does Jesus require of us to receive salvation and the promise of eternal life with Him? Whatâs keeping you from fully surrendering to Him?
Dear Father, thank You for offering Your Son as payment for my sin. Help me to surrender wholly to You.

Bible in a Year:
So the women . . . ran to tell his disciples.
Some five hundred years later, two women also ran to deliver good newsâthe most pivotal news in all of history. When Mary and Mary Magdalene arrived at the tomb where Jesus had been placed after His crucifixion, they found it empty. An angel told them that Jesus had ârisen from the deadâ and to âgo quickly and tell his disciplesâ (Matthew 28:7). The women, âafraid yet filled with joy,â ran to tell the disciples what theyâd discovered (v. 8).
May we have the same joyful exuberance at the resurrection of Jesus, and may it invigorate us to share the good news with others. We may not even need to ârunâ farther than next door to find someone who needs to know about our Savior. He won the battle against death so we might live victoriously with Him forever!
Reflect & Pray
Who shared the good news of Christâs resurrection with you? How will you share it with others today?
God, I rejoice because of Your victory over death. Thank You for allowing me the privilege of sharing this good news with those Youâve put in my life.

Hi there, hope you’re feeling better each day! đžđŒđș Sunshine here today. Must be an arctic high pressure system because it’s been windy and very cold. Hurt to walk into the wind on my dog walk today! đ„¶đ¶
I am feeling better, thank you. I can breathe without help. LOL!
Stay warm.....I’ll bet Moose had rather be by the stove with you instead of freezing outside. :)
Well, I need to be more grateful for little things like breathing! đ
I nearly turned around and went back inside after 100 feet of walking. But we both need the excercise, so went anyway. I am trying to lose a few pounds that sneaked up on me the last couple of years.
Made chicken soup last night and man is it good. Had the hubby pick up a roasted chicken, no-salt chicken broth, onion and celery on his way home yesterday. Had potatoes, carrots and no-gluten noodles already. After saute-ing the celery and onion , added the other stuff and in less than an hour, had delicious soup. Just had some left overs for lunch. Good stuff.
Sunny and cold here, better than cloudy and cold! đ„¶đ
