NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The woman who falsely accused a Black teenager of stealing her cell phone inside a Manhattan hotel in a now-viral video has spoken out for the first time since the incident took place.
In a phone interview with CNN on Tuesday, the woman said she asked another person in the lobby of the Arlo Hotel in SoHo to “empty their pocket” before she began to confront jazz musician Keyon Harrod’s 14-year-old son about her missing phone.
“That’s when everything got a little bit more serious,” the woman said, according to the outlet. CNN withheld the woman’s name “because she said she has concerns for her safety unrelated to this incident.”
The woman went on to provide a “rambling” explanation of what happened that day, the outlet reported. She did say she was worried about the charges she may face in connection with the incident.

Unless the woman knew her phone’s ringer was turned off, couldn’t she have asked someone to call her number while she was in hearing distance of the kid?
This was at least a tinge racial. She assumed the black kid stole her phone. He didn’t steal it.
She’s didn’t “shame her race” any more than a black or native American or Asian or whatever who does something wrong “shames their race”
Sheesh.
Race is separate from, though related to, culture.
“White” people have multiple cultures.
“Black” people in the USA have multiple cultures - we may see only the rap culture, but there are umpteen others
I’ve know these types since I was a child. Entitled as 12 year olds and it doesn’t change as they get older. And yes, white liberals may talk the talk, but when it comes to “walking the walk” they are more racist than any Billy Bob or Ronda Ray I have encountered.
Way to miss the point.
Agree. She also left scratches on the father’s hand. Crazy.
This is pretty definitely a case where she did use race. I am no fan of people calling racial profiling when it’s not. It is weird that she has not been arrested.
