I’ll confess that I didn’t see this one coming. Much of the cable news programming currently blasting across our screens these days is celebrating the arrival of the first COVID vaccines approved for general distribution. People lining up to be the first in their state to receive it are hailed in the press like rock stars. But out in Southern California, there’s one group of people who are choosing to either delay taking the shot or simply declining entirely. Those are the nurses. CBS Los Angeles is reporting that a recent survey conducted by the UCLS Fielding School of Public Health reports that a full two-thirds of the nurses surveyed either said no or at least… not yet.
A number of local healthcare workers have reservations about the COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use, according to a new survey from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
“Two-thirds of the health workers that we surveyed wished to delay vaccination or not get vaccinated,” Dr. Anne Rimoin, the senior author of the study, said Monday.
She said the survey collected data from about 600 workers between mid-September and the end of October.
At least out where I live, healthcare workers are among the first being vaccinated, which kind of makes sense since so many of them are dealing with COVID patients on a daily basis. And at least based on the information being spread around by the media, you would think that these educated individuals would put the most faith in the system that developed and tested these vaccines, right? So what gives with the nurses in California?
A representative for the union covering these nurses was quick to point out that their members are not “anti-vaxxers.” 90% of them reportedly get the flu vaccine every year.

Perhaps your name betrays you. Are you reverting to your former self?
My story wasn’t meant to be exculpatory. I couldn’t care less what you think or where you stand on the whole vaccine. I’m exercising my right to free will, which is still extant in this country for the time being.
Nothing in my response was derogatory, defamatory, or vulgar. If you want to run to protect those with whom you agree, that is your right. I will also advise you to keep your opinions to yourself, because you’re not convincing me or millions of other Americans to “get on board.”
Thank you for the kind words! You’d be amazed at how often I get accused of being a troll simply for posting accurate, factual information. My hope is that people who have the facts made easily accessible to them will make better decisions. Maybe they won’t, but I’m a bit of an optimist.
Yes.
“Speaking of ‘science’, a CAN of COCA-COLA has tested ‘positive’ for COVID in Austria.” and the vaccine results were based on who tested positive and who didn’t. Also, participants in the trials were all healthy...
Except the MP screwed up the test: https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=https://factuel.afp.com/covid-19-des-tests-positifs-sur-du-coca-ou-de-la-compote-ne-prouvent-pas-leur-inutilite&prev=search&pto=aue
I’m not sure I want a “vaccine” that mainly stops the severity of the symptoms rather than stopping infection, and which won’t negate the lockdowns/mask mandates - but you are correct - if it saves more lives by mitigating symptoms w/o having a critical “gotta get treated” period, then it’s a boon and confidence booster. and those who beat it to death disregard that they’re attaching President Trump.
Just like they freaked when 4 of 30K (1 in 7500) had Bells Palsy episodes - when it strikes 4 times that rate (1 in 1800) in the regular population.
That is the key point. These nurses reveal what many of us know. This virus is weak for the majority of the population. I don’t like the idea of vaccines for a virus that the vast majority of people don’t even get symptoms with, if they have it. It is like me buying boat insurance. Hint: I don’t have a boat.
What they know is what the manufacturers of the vaccines are also advising:
- no pregnant or breastfeeding women should receive the vaccine
- women should not become pregnant for at least two months after receiving the second vaccine (so during the entire time of vaccination, plus at least two months afterward)
- individuals with auto immune diseases or allergies should not receive the vaccination
Simply stated, testing on the vaccination was too short a period to know what the long term effects will be on these types of individuals. There are indications due to the composition of the vaccine itself, that there could be serious side effects.
But let’s wait to see the two year reports for year over year in 2021 and 2022. Most of these deaths have been actuarial pull forwards by a mere few months of very unhealthy people.
“My body, my choice!”
How many times has that statement been hammered into our heads over the years?
And now, when someone wants to exercise that choice for any reason other than abortion, well, it’s no longer your body.
People who work around the elderly should be FORCED to take the vaccine or loose their jobs. Enough of the BS.
Unsure if I will get the vax.
If I knew for sure I’ve had covid, I damned sure would NOT get the vax.
Incorrect.
What the CDC stated was that 6% of COVID-19 death certificates only listed COVID-19 on the death certificate. The US Standard Certificate of Death (seen here) has 4 lines in Section 32 Part 1, where you're supposed to list chain of events leading directly to death beginning with the underlying cause of death (UCOD) and ending with the immediate cause of death. Further, Part II should list any conditions which complicated survival, but which were not part of the chain of events leading directly to death.
COVID-19 generally causes death by sandblasting the epithelial cells of the lungs, leading to secondary opportunistic infection (often pneumonia) or by causing blood clots that lead to stroke and/or heart attack. The CDC's "Guidance for Certifying Deaths Due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID–19)" (seen here) specifically requires anyone putting COVID-19 on a death certificate to fill out the full chain of events in Section 32 Part 1 and to fill out Part II with other contributing conditions.
In other words, that 6% number where the only thing listed on the death certificate was COVID-19? That should be 0%. CDC was calling out those filling out the death certificates for being lazy and/or stupid about it and not following the guidance.
Fact is, someone who's had diabetes for 30 years who gets COVID-19 and dies 2 weeks later of lung failure didn't die because of diabetes. Someone who's lived with hypertension for 20 years and dies within 2 weeks of contracting COVID-19 because of massive pneumonia infection didn't die of hypertension. By claiming the 6% nonsense, you're saying they did.

"tests that find Coca-Cola COVID positive"
Sure, if one screws up the test and uses it completely incorrectly, one can get all manner of inaccurate results. The tests are certified to work under specific controls. Throw those out the window and the test isn't reliable. It doesn't mean anything about the reliability of the test when performed properly.
My thermometer tells me if I have a fever. If I hold it up against a light bulb and exclaim "HA! This thing thinks my light bulb has a fever!", that doesn't mean there's something wrong with my thermometer. It means there's something wrong with me.
"What we DO know is that the number of total deaths for the USA for 2020 so far is significantly less than previous years, by arround half a million or so."
False. We've had excess deaths every single week since March.

When a company stands to make trillions off a totally politicized matter that the supposed experts are all over the board on and which politicians have lied about for a year, then yes I am suspicious. It has nothing to do with idiot notions of capitalism v. Socialism. But you keep on being a good naive little sheep and make uncle Joe proud.
BTTT!!!
Thanks for all your postings. I was definitely going to pass on the vaccine, but after reading your reports, I’m about 50/50. Being over 70 with comorbidities (wife and I) we will approach this with a more opened mind.
” shove your high and mighty attitude up your....”
THAT is not nasty???? of course it is vulgar what you posted to that other poster who is trying to JUST post scientific research without an opinion..
You really go off the rail when you imagine i told anyone “ to get on board”..i never did that in my post..
.and...i dont have to keep my opionion to myself...you sure didnt keep YOUR opionion to yourself.
I didnt denigrate your family medical people..just that i dont take my views from a few doctors or nurses i know..i agree w some i know and others i know i dont agree with.
Personal Attacks on me because of my screen name are also pointless to any arguments you make and not veryconvincing to me or millions of other Americans.
you would think that these educated individuals would put the most faith in the system...”
There is book learning then there is their experience in the system and real world. They know bullshit when they see it. If there were something to fear they’d know it, and at present it is this rushed cure for a non threat.
Glad I could help! I would encourage you to check out posts from some actual practicing physicians here on FR. They’re jumping at the opportunity to get these vaccines.
Whatever you and your wife decide, I wish you both good health.
