I’ll confess that I didn’t see this one coming. Much of the cable news programming currently blasting across our screens these days is celebrating the arrival of the first COVID vaccines approved for general distribution. People lining up to be the first in their state to receive it are hailed in the press like rock stars. But out in Southern California, there’s one group of people who are choosing to either delay taking the shot or simply declining entirely. Those are the nurses. CBS Los Angeles is reporting that a recent survey conducted by the UCLS Fielding School of Public Health reports that a full two-thirds of the nurses surveyed either said no or at least… not yet.
A number of local healthcare workers have reservations about the COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use, according to a new survey from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
“Two-thirds of the health workers that we surveyed wished to delay vaccination or not get vaccinated,” Dr. Anne Rimoin, the senior author of the study, said Monday.
She said the survey collected data from about 600 workers between mid-September and the end of October.
At least out where I live, healthcare workers are among the first being vaccinated, which kind of makes sense since so many of them are dealing with COVID patients on a daily basis. And at least based on the information being spread around by the media, you would think that these educated individuals would put the most faith in the system that developed and tested these vaccines, right? So what gives with the nurses in California?
A representative for the union covering these nurses was quick to point out that their members are not “anti-vaxxers.” 90% of them reportedly get the flu vaccine every year.

Besides young children these should be the absolute last to get this thing as the main risk of this stuff is in long term fetal and child developmental problems.

Pay special attention to the notes at the bottom of the graph regarding the most recent weeks. I’ll quote that bit here:
“Number of deaths reported on this page are the total number of deaths received and coded as of the date of analysis and do not represent all deaths that occurred in that period. Data are incomplete because of the lag in time between when the death occurred and when the death certificate is completed, submitted to NCHS and processed for reporting purposes. This delay can range from 1 week to 8 weeks or more, depending on the jurisdiction and cause of death.”
I will get the vaccine with no concerns.
We old men don’t have much to lose with its potential problems vs the actual risk of Covid, and moreover the potential to allay the publics concerns. If the most vulnerable to Covid are inoculated then presumably the risk of it will be so reduced that everything can go back to normal. I would risk my life (a little tiny bit) for that.
And at our age, there are no better risks to take, no advance over Flanders Fields, no glorious last stands. How well can one die after all?
Women who can have babies, babies, and young children, that is another matter.

That is where they expose the vaccinated subject to the real virus or variant in the wild.
They do it in the animal trials... thats ok... just not ok with humans.... until now... because they SKIPPED THE ANIMAL TRIALS!!!

And did the study include a look at likely female infertility? No, it was a rush job for a cold virus vaccine that has eluded all attempts to make one until the political virus hit.
I’m with you on all that. But, assuming the central claims in this article and its sources are true, and they seem to be coming from a pretty credible source (CBS LA reporting on a UCLA survey and their own follow up), doesn’t this beg the following question?
We have been told, constantly, for months, that the hospitals are blood baths of dying Covid patients and are constantly on the brink of collapse and that our front line medical workers are overwhelmed, exhausted, traumatized, and dying left and right. Accordingly, we’ve been told we need to shut down our lives and wear masks everywhere primarily to protect our hospitals and our health care workers from being overrun.
Why, then, are a majority of those health care workers in SoCal refusing a vaccine that has been tested on millions of subjects, and why are none of the hospitals in the area compelling them to take it?
Why do they fear the vaccine more than the virus?
Why should one more person shut down his business, lose his job, or be forced to wear a mask in public to protect the hospitals and nurses when they won’t take a safe, effective vaccine to protect themselves?

I have no problem with this vaccine targeting the elderly and people with co-morbidities. Don’t need it as a bludgeon allow a return to normal.
They skipped a 5-6 years of testing. Will there be problems because of this? Idk. Have zero idea what happens out of it. Probably nothing for most, but there will be a few percent that may have issues.
