COVID-19 nurse Kim Hunt decorated her St. Anthony home with Christmas lights in order to bring festive cheer to their community She was left 'bewildered' when she received a letter from a neighbor who was offended by the display The anonymous letter writer claimed that the lights 'harmful' to people who don't celebrate Christmas or cannot afford decorations of their own Hunt told DailyMail.com that three other residents on her street also received the same letter after they put up decorations

The Minnesota woman who was blasted for her 'harmful' Christmas light display is a nurse on a coronavirus ward - who says the festive decorations help cheer her up.

Kim Hunt, who resides in St. Anthony, put up simple string lights outside her home last weekend before she received a nasty letter from an anonymous neighbor who railed against the festive decorations.

'I couldn't help but notice your Christmas light display,' the letter read.

'The idea of twinkling, colorful lights are a reminder of divisions that continue to run through our society, a reminder of systemic biases against our neighbors who don't celebrate Christmas or who can't afford to put up lights of their own.'

Speaking with DailyMail.com, Hunt said she has been left 'bewildered and sad' by the note, and has no idea who the author could be.

'My simple light display gives me joy when I come home from working on the Covid unit at a local hospital,' she stated. The letter has been met with widespread backlash on social media Supporters have now decided to deck out their own homes with lights in a show of solidarity

"...a neighbor who was offended by the display The anonymous letter writer claimed that the lights 'harmful' to people who don't celebrate Christmas or cannot afford decorations of their own."

I have no obligation to stifle my life or expression to satisfy a never-ending grievance community.

Just another data point. I live in the heart of Silicon Valley, which is about as liberal as it gets in the US these days. I have my Christmas lights up, as do several neighbors. No one has said a word against them.

“The anonymous letter writer claimed that the lights ‘harmful’ to people who don't celebrate Christmas or cannot afford decorations of their own...”

If true, it shows how crazy liberals are.

If gaslighting, it shows liberals in an accurate fashion.

What a hypocrite that is probably blind to their hypocrisy.

This person speaks of divisions in society while fanning the flames of those divisions.

This person wishes to force conformity on all people while defending diversity.

Why should it bother anyone which holidays another chooses to celebrate?

If one person decides to celebrate Chanukah while I celebrate Christmas, I don’t bemoan their celebration because it has no effect on my celebration.

Unless he is having a extremely loud rager I will be fine. If he does make a nuisance of himself, I will politely ask him to tone it down. If that doesn’t work, then I get the authorities involved.

But that is not an effect caused by the holiday that is a personal issue.

A man (or woman)’s home is his/her castle. Just another Karen neighbor with way too much time on her hands. She should ignore the Karen and decorate as much or as little as she pleases for the holidays.

Christmas lights a ‘reminder of systematic biases’

Is anybody really that twisted as to say such a thing?

I live in the other extreme of CA. People here are still flying Trump flags, and houses without Christmas lights are a small minority. I can't imagine someone complaining about Christmas lights, but it seems everything is offensive to socialists. They look at anything Americans hold dear and immediately start thinking of ways to destroy it.

Visited my Dentist’s office yesterday. Christmas songs being played during my time in the chair gave me a little lift.

First of all — decorations are for everybody. Who cares if you can’t afford the time or expense, you get to drive or walk down the street, and enjoy the lights other people bought.

And who cares if you don’t celebrate christmas? Lights are lights, so unless you hide in the darkness, you can still enjoy the pretty lights.
