Eating just ONE egg a day increases your risk of diabetes by 60 per cent, study warns

Eating just one egg a day increases your risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 60 per cent, according to a new study.

Australian researchers who studied a sample of 8,545 Chinese adults found a positively correlation between higher egg consumption and high blood sugar levels in Chinese adults.

Eggs are versatile and nutritious and are promoted as a 'healthy fast food' in the UK, but have proved the ultimate conundrum for diabetes researchers.

Previous studies have indicated that eating eggs can actually keep diabetes at bay, adding a confusing mix of scientific literature to the debate.

This new research suggests regular consumption of an egg a day – either boiled, scrambled, poached or fried – makes you more prone to the condition, which occurs when a person's blood sugar is too high.

“Bull crap. Nor buying the latest dietary chicken littling.”

D-Life (a site for diabetics) always said that eggs were the perfect food for those with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. So which is it? Eggs good or eggs bad?

I have been and always will be somewhat dubious about any “study” being pushed by the media. There are very many things to look at re the study (math, analysis, samples - size yes, but was it truly random, etc.- and more).

And always always remember that our media folks are media folks because science courses were the things that they avoided in university. In fact, they avoided any course that required anything greater than repetition and naivety. That’s WHY they are only the media. They will report anything, anything that’ll grab your eye.

War on eggs. The well paid, totally redundant idiots that do these kind of studies, won’t be happy until all that’s left to eat is each other. They just feed the ‘anxiety about everything’ brigade

I call BS.

Fat and protein don’t release insulin into your system NEAR as much as carbs.
Less insulin released overall means less insulin resistance. Less insulin resistance means lower diabetes, If I have the correct version of diabetes in mind.

Let me guess, large scale chicken farming for eggs is a leading cause of greenhouse gasses.

It is carbs, not proteins and fats, that cause diabetes. They are probably not including the possibility that people are eating white bread toast with their eggs in the morning.

This is an EXTREMELY weak study. The folks eating the eggs were wealthy compared to those who did not eat eggs, so MANY aspects of the diet are likely to be different. Correlation does NOT equal causality.

I thought it was basically sugar that gave you type 2 diabetes?!?!?... or more acurately, cronic insulin spiking.

Are protein and fat. They are just the opposite.

Sjould I read the article?

Hoping someone can explain.

It’s BS. Eggs are very, good for you. Whatever is “bad” in the yolk gets “cancelled out” by what’s good in the white. I’ve eaten eggs my whole life. Sometimes like 6 a day, and nothing AT ALL wrong with my health or blood work and I’m 56.

Eat sensibly with a balanced diet and stay active....forget this nonsense.....

We all are going to die.....

Hyperventilating about this or that will kill you quicker than your diet...

I enjoy my coffee, glass of wine, and daily cigar......

I also stay in shape and eat properly.....

Tonight I prepared a Tuscan Chicken in a heavy cream sauce with sun-dried tomatoes....should be ready around 6:30......

Correlation is NOT causation.
Maybe they need to check how they were prepared or what they were eaten with?

Good thing I never eat one a day. I eat them 2-3 at a time but usually only on weekends so I’m OK from the latest food Nazi prognostication.
