They are the police officers. Felony Cases of this dimension use “private investigators “ to do the searching for details. Then everything found is turned over to DA , grand jury, or Prosecutors Office to bring charges. (On criminal level).
Police do not get involved with civil cases (which this is right now). Except to take complaints and statements. Person who has a civil complaint hires an attorney who moves the case through the system. Just as you are seeing the lawyers do.

I’ve run a few papers over to the clerk to be filed in my youth.
She probably took them in just before closing because the clerk would clear the office before processing. Thus keeping content private.
Each piece of paper - affidavit - etc must have the clerks seal attached, be initialed or signed , and have each page and subsection numbers or otherwise designated. This wait simply indicates how massive her document is. As I said earlier. It may be Friday before anyone (defendant’s, patties etc) get a copy of it. Let them worry at least over night. There is usually a large safe in which documents can be stored overnight. If I were her I’d not trust the staff but make sure someone is there at all times to keep ALL paperwork safe.
Most of us are only familiar with marriage or divorce filings. This takes a much longer time.
In our county each page must also be added to a cyber file before it is “booked”
Hope it was clear. Can almost hear daddy explaining “things” as he so often did. That is why it’s often said the wheels of justice turn slowly. The process takes so much time to do it right.
. Must say I certainly had a unique childhood. But it’s kept me calm during this storm. Believe me it’s all going on o turn out in our favor or we will no longer have a republic.
