OK, a vanity post here - With Fox having completely gone to the dark side, and not wanting to spend any money to support any of the mainstream media any more, I'm looking for a streaming service that can replace my cable.
I'm looking to have local channels (which I can do with an antenna if necessary), some sports, alternative news, older movies, older shows, maybe some history.

I have heard there is something called ‘outdoors’ and ‘sunshine’.
We cut the cord long ago. We don’t really even use our antenna much any more.
I can watch almost any news program or pundit that I want on youtube (hopefully soon on Rumble) without commercials or by forwarding through commercials. I can fast forward through annoying guests and/or boring and repetitive monologues.
We have honestly not missed it much outside of college football and I have not paid much attention to that this year either.
Roku.
Books. I don’t watch TV. I spend time reading outdoors and kayaking. What passes for entertainment these days is depressing. This coming from a man in his 40s.
Honestly, it’s hard to do. Even the streaming services are getting caught up in being tied to certain channels in order to provide other channels that users want.
I have recently found PlutoTV.
It is free and has an awesome amount of selections.
The news selections has all the usual suspects. But also includes Newsax, OAN Encore, and my personal favorite right now, America’s Voice.
Did I mention TOTALLY FREE?
Just be sure to select the ‘skip’ button when it shows you payment items. I think that is for more services or contributions maybe? Anyway, I have been watching it a few days and VERY impressed.
OF course, still need internet.
You can watch PlutoTV on the internet or on an app.
My daughter told me PlutoTV is on her PlayStation as a selection too!

I don't even watch the local channels. If I want local news I just go to that station's website.
Honestly, cable is totally unnecessary. Unfortunately, you still need internet service, so you're going to fund cable companies nevertheless.
Streaming is the solution. Even local network news are available via streaming. We use Apple TV and love it. There are a number of free movie apps with ads.
We also watch select shows on Foxnews for free via 123tv.
Roku. Then you can search and add channels like Pluto, Locast (for locals), Newsmax, etc. There are plenty of free movies on Roku and channels that will more than supplement your time watching TV.
Excellent free service and it is on Apple TV.
Get a smart TV and or a Roku and search through the available apps for shows. Thats how i do it. Its cheap and you can find about 90% of what you want to watch.
Also, I have to watch Tucker live and found a place that streams Tucker live. Check out ustvgo.tv. I bring it on on my smart TV with internet access.
Does anyone know if Roku has an internet browser option.
I’ve had no cable for 5 years now. Nearly unlimited options through my Roku. Now I’m exploring YouTube alternative “Rumble.”

That’s free content. They also have an app for streaming but I think it might only be on amazon fireTV, fire sticks etc but firetv also has all the other apps.
We don’t have cable. We have ROKU and we get Pluto TV which has NewsMax and America’s Voice among other channels.
For local, there is something called, Locast. It’s free but about every 15-20 minutes interrupts asking for donations but you can go back to what you’re watching. Local channels are on this as well as other channels. I use this to watch football games and local news at times.
No, don't get a Smart TV. Smart TVs spy on you and the quality (interface) is horrible. All you need is the latest Roku (make sure it has Ethernet connection port because wired is better than wireless, IMO). Using your TV input, you can toggle back between regular TV and the Roku device if you like. Smart TVs are expensive and just duplicate what a Roku device already does. I just bought a 55" RCA non-smart 4K TV for just $275.
We canceled cable 5 years ago and have saved a lot of money!
The first best thing we noticed is that we never had to see or pay for commercials anymore...
We never missed it because we can still see every we want!
