No, don't get a Smart TV. Smart TVs spy on you and the quality (interface) is horrible. All you need is the latest Roku (make sure it has Ethernet connection port because wired is better than wireless, IMO). Using your TV input, you can toggle back between regular TV and the Roku device if you like. Smart TVs are expensive and just duplicate what a Roku device already does. I just bought a 55" RCA non-smart 4K TV for just $275.

I have a new Samsung 55” and have never enabled the voice port. And it doesn’t have a camera. No security worries.
As for quality, I can stream 4K programing on it PLUS the little 32” Panasonic in the bedroom...simultaneously.
All over wireless...no cables absent the electrical cable.
And I can surf the internet at the same time...again, wireless.
