The U.S. hit its second consecutive daily COVID-19 case record Nov. 5, reporting more than 115,000 cases, according to The Washington Post.
Twenty states also set new daily COVID-19 case records Nov. 5, reports the Post.
Five other updates:
1. Some COVID-19 patients report parosmia, an often temporary and unpleasant odor distortion, reports The Washington Post. "It's more debilitating in some ways than loss of smell," said Richard Doty, PhD, director of Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania's Smell and Taste Center. Thousands of accounts of parosmia and phantosmia, or smelling scents that aren't there, have flooded social media platforms in the last few months, reports the Post.
2. The first available doses of a COVID-19 vaccine will go to healthcare workers, José Romero, MD, head of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, told NPR Nov. 5. As the CDC's vaccine advisory group, the committee will recommend how a COVID-19 vaccine should be used and who should receive the first doses once one is approved. Dr. Romero said the group anticipates vaccines being available for healthcare workers in December or early January.
3. Adults who test positive for COVID-19 are two times more likely to have exclusively worked in an office or school setting in the two weeks prior to their illness, according to a Nov. 6 CDC report. The finding is based on 314 symptomatic adults who had COVID-19 tests at 11 outpatient sites nationwide July 1-29.
4. Children who contract COVID-19 produce weaker antibodies than adults, according to a small study published Nov. 5 in Nature Immunology. Researchers at New York City-based Columbia University Irving Medical Center found children also had fewer types of antibodies in their systems than adults. Both findings suggest that children are able to clear the virus from their bodies earlier, according to The New York Times.
5. Hospitals in the greater Washington, D.C., area are better equipped for another surge than they were at the start of the pandemic, hospital officials told The Washington Post. Officials said they have more information on how to treat COVID-19 patients, have enough protective equipment and are addressing staff burnout. Despite spiking COVID-19 cases, the area has not hit record hospitalizations. Washington, D.C, Maryland and Virginia hospitals are working with local officials to monitor case rates and map out surge scenarios.
Snapshot of COVID-19 in the U.S.

10 day if you are positive. 14 day if you are negative.
So, at least locally, a number of businesses are recording “+” to get people back faster.
Two guys that tested positive are coming back Monday. The rest FRIDAY.
But in the new .gov regime, reality doesn’t matter.
Meanwhile, Democrats are planning victory parties on twitter. I kid you not.
They may have had 2 deaths yesterday, but today they are listed as having 13. And their figures are still significantly higher than Denmark, Norway, and Finland.
I don’t think Biden has any influence on the Worldometers figures.
Coronavirus PING!
Whaaaaaat? If you’re negative, quarantine for 5 or 6 days, get tested again, if you’re negative again, then feel free to move about the country!
How’s that?
Exactly. The virus will continue to spread, but not cause a healthcare crisis. Deaths will continue to rise and will soon be back over 1,000/day, though I doubt we will see anything like the "first wave". It will be more spread out, with no NY/NJ level disasters like Apr/May. But just like homelessness "disappears" during Dem regimes, if Biden wins the MSM will not dwell on the deaths, but how effectively the Biden Administration is dealing with it. Then, when vaccines are ready in just a few months thanks to Trump's "warp speed" initiative, Biden will be a hero.
Hopefully Biden will fail to reach 270, and we can all "enjoy" the MSM continue to scream Orange Man Bad.
If covid is back in the newsthen what are they trying to hide....., more fraud issues coming to light?
The virus must be attacking brain tissue particularly the cranial nerves involving taste and smell. Tumors of the brain can start to manifest by folks noting “strange smells or loss of taste”.
In New Mexico they are fighting family cultures in trying to contain the disease.
? All I care about is deaths...13 as compared to the rest of Europe...our policies ARE NOT WORKING.
Mine, of cordite! ;^}
Don’t care....what are the flu stats?
I find it interesting that they this as a symptom. I had a loss of smell a few months ago, and no other symptoms.
Now I want an antibody test.
No.
If you are negative, locked up for 14 days.
If you are positive, 10 days and 24 hours fever free.
So most of my work force that had it are coming back at 10 days, those who didn’t 14.
null and void : " New symptom, new strain? "
More than likely, a mutation of the original coronavirus, given the ease of mutation of virus RNA .
An extension of the original "gift" from our Chinese masters ?.. /s
This virus is truly 'novel', and we still have much to learn about it.
The Truth about PCR Test Kit from the Inventor and Other Experts
PCR basically takes a sample of your cells and amplifies any DNA to look for viral sequences, i.e. bits of non-human DNA that seem to match parts of a known viral genome. The problem is the test is known not to work. It uses amplification which means taking a very very tiny amount of DNA and growing it exponentially until it can be analysed. Obviously any minute contaminations in the sample will also be amplified leading to potentially gross errors of discovery. Additionally, its only looking for partial viral sequences, not whole genomes, so identifying a single pathogen is next to impossible even if you ignore the other issues. The idea these kits can isolate a specific virus like COVID-19 is nonsense....
And according to the CDC’s own website, they have never isolated the alleged virus.
‘Here, were having another spike with more active cases than ever and the numbers have been going up for two weeks so not expecting a decrease anytime soon.’
I heard that if you go into a closet, lock the door, close your eyes and concentrate on happy, cheery thoughts, you might survive this deadly disease...why don’t you try it...?
My wife tested positive, no fever whatsoever. I have the same symptoms as her; no fever whatsoever. I should have test results back in a few days. My Niece, same thing. Only symptoms are runny nose, some minor chest congestion, a mild cough once in a while, sneezing, itchy/burning eyes - basically like seasonal allergies. Today I seemed to get tired a bit easier.
