Pot: The Gateway Crime
Look Around | 11/06/2020 | blueunicorn6

Posted on 11/06/2020 8:12:06 AM PST by blueunicorn6

Marijuana has been called a “Gateway” drug. The thinking is that once a person experiences the effects of pot, they will have lost their reluctance to try stronger drugs such as cocaine, meth and heroin.

“I smoked pot and lived through it. I kind of liked it. Maybe the stronger drugs won’t hurt me. Maybe they will be like pot, only better. They probably won’t kill me. Plus, it’s kind of exciting.”

We sit after this election wondering how so many of our fellow citizens feel the need to cheat to achieve a political goal. Cheating is against the rules. Cheating is a crime. How can they so easily do it?

It is because they have become used to criminal behavior. They smoked pot and broke the law, but they didn’t die. Making pot illegal seemed useless. It was a crime, they thought, with no personal consequences, save those useless laws.

They smoked pot and committed a crime, but the world didn’t end. They felt that they benefited from committing this crime. They could ignore problems for a while.

If using pot was a crime that could be ignored, then what other crimes were useless?

They were no longer honest with themselves. They lied to themselves. The absolute worst kind of lying.

They could lie to themselves about other crimes.

Voter fraud? Who did that really hurt? Not them. It was kind of exciting. Who goes to jail for voter fraud? Pffffft.

As these Democrats continue to lie to themselves and others, committing other crimes became easier.

Stealing? Who did that really hurt? Sure, it’s against the law, but so is pot. Who cares? The people I stole from deserved to be victims. They didn’t know how hard it is for me. They can easily replace what I stole.

The lies to themselves grew bigger.

This is not a dissertation. This is Free Republic.

I suspect that my thoughts will be attacked with mass posting.

People who benefit from selling pot will post numerous frivolous items to drive this post from the front page.

So be it.

Pot is a gateway crime.

It is being used against our society.

"What you say about pot is true of ANY minor wrong-doing, softening one's attitude towards other wrong-doings."

Drugs directly change brain function (GABA receptors, radical decreases in inhibitions) and are far more addictive.

good analysis...

problem is really this...too many religious think all they have to do is say "Jesus is my Saviour" and shazamm...they can cheat, lie, steal, porn until the cows come home because they are already "saved" no matter what evil they do...

there is a huge disconnect with people....

The drug addicts’ marijuana vs. alcohol argument is also a fallacy. Most marijuana users also drink too much in order to sedate themselves and avoid the initial paranoia of the marijuana high. After the initial, overly exciting high, users sink into a sedated state. That cycle develops after a few years into episodes of mania, depression and altered perceptions (delusions). After years of lying to themselves and others about drug abuse and effects, users become compulsive liars. They devolve generally into antisocial behaviors.

You have admitted you are a criminal.

Take a close look at your life.

What are you stealing? Other people’s time? Goods from an organization?

You have no problem committing crimes.

Criminals commit crimes because they think God will cover them?

No, I don’t think so.

Criminals commit crimes to benefit themselves.

Numerous studies have concluded that marijuana is one of the major causes of permanent psychosis and schizophrenia.

I call BS - post links, not your usual 'just Google it' lazy dodge.

So if pot is no longer a crime it's no longer a gateway to other crime; thanks for the pro-legalization argument!

I agree with what you said in comment #22.

It's happened before. A king of the northern kingdom of Israel followed his wife and her friends into idolatry. Ten tribes were taken away by the Assyrians and distributed as slaves in faraway countries. The same process happened in Judah afterwards. Both parts of the nation of Israel were taken away and dispersed into foreign, idolatrous cultures.

In the U.S.A., Puritans, Huguenots and others came to partially escape idolatry in Europe. They nearly escaped it but didn't go far enough. Their descendants sank deeper into it with each generation. That process was accelerated beginning around 1970 with calls, even in fundamentalist churches (e.g., Southern Baptist), to swerve more in the direction of idolatry (see Marcionism, Jezebel).

Have a quick, easy look at these verses, then read the chapters around them.

Isaiah 43:11.

Zechariah 14:9.

Malachi 3:6

Many have now escaped again, somewhat, to become Noachides and keep their families more cohesive and away from drugs and other enslaving indulgences.

It doesn’t matter.

Two generations of criminals have come about.

Wait until you see what that brings.

Yes

I want to abolish crime.

You want more crime?

Post your name and address and when you’ll be away from home so that the thieves can pay you a visit.

Still, we're better off legalizing pot so as not to add more fuel to the fire.
