Facebook leak reveals policies on restricting New York Post's Biden story
The Guardian ^

Posted on 10/31/2020 7:23:07 PM PDT by BenLurkin

The document, which lays out in detail Facebook’s policies for dealing with misinformation on Facebook and Instagram, sheds new light on the process that led to the company’s decision to reduce the distribution of the story.

Stories can be “enqueued” for Facebook’s third-party factcheckers in one of two ways: either by being flagged by an AI, or by being manually added by one of the factcheckers themselves.

Facebook’s AI looks for signals “including feedback from the community and disbelief comments” to automatically predict which posts might contain misinformation. “Predicted content is temporarily (for seven days) soft demoted in feed (at 50% strength) and enqueued to fact check product for review by [third-party factcheckers],” the document says.

But some posts are not automatically demoted. Sites in the “Alexa 5K” list, “which includes content in the top 5,000 most popular internet sites”, are supposed to keep their distribution high, “under the assumption these are unlikely to be spreading misinformation”.

Those guidelines can be manually overridden, however.

In other words, it sounds to me, Facebook went out of its way to hide the Hunter Biden story.

Besides fox sometimes, why do we have to find out this stuff from the Daily Mail and now even the Guardian?

I know the conservative outlets report it, but none of the msm ones here

I don’t even CARE that they censor it. But don’t try to hide behind the excuse that you are an aggregator. You are an EDITOR, and you can be liable, as any publication can, for libel and slander. You cannot have it both ways.

Agreed. And as soon as the feds get involved and carve out those liability exemptions, speech on your platform should be subject to the first amendment.

Facebook’s algorithms are like an instrument. And China is playing them. So is the CIA. But China is better at it. China has near infinite people to throw at the problem. The CIA has computers. Between the two, they are manipulating the algorithms of Facebook to imply people having a problem with a post or a post having a topic it really doesn’t have. China, hiding behind their great digital wall, plays the facebook algorithm with many fake users who have good or bad backgrounds, all fake. Then they like or comment or object to a post. Or they link posts with other users. So a real person with a point of view can see a post and react when they would not normally comment on it. The same is true of Google and Twitter. They are being manipulated faster than they can be corrected.

Another issue is that Facebook and Twitter and Google have been infiltrated. In trying to do good. These companies have handed over a great deal of power to people who don’t like America very much. They work together to control their company. And I wonder if Zuckerburg is in charge there any more. He is young and has no experience running a large bureaucracy. I believe he has already lost control of it. And he probably has to be very careful or he will find himself a very rich person without a company.

Fox went over to the dark side long ago.

They keep Tucker, Hannity and a few others for the money.

An accessory after the fact, then.

Execute Zuckerberg and his Chinese wife handler for treason?
