Fear of what might happen on election day is what is propelling such a huge turn out for early voting. I would never have voted by mail weeks ago if I had not been afraid of what the Dems in charge of voting in my state might do on Nov 3. They don’t have to actually break any laws. They can just make it so difficult with 3 or 4 or 5 hour wait in line that people will turn around and go home.

Reducing the number of polling places will be easy this time. Governors can just say that they couldn’t get enough election judges and poll workers to keep voting locations open.

When I used to work as an election judge in Maryland, it was a 14 hour day. That is absolutely ridiculous. Even in normal times there are thousands of retired people who would be happy to work for seven or eight hours but not 14. There’s no valid reason that poll workers cannot work in shifts.

During the shut down, people were probably sitting for more hours at their personal computers than ever before in history. When they got the request to fill in the census, they returned it online. It would be interesting to know the percentage of census forms that were completed by a census worker knocking on the door vs returned by internet vs through a phone call compared to other years.

Phone call? I just did a quick search for… How to return census information… and it included ... by phone call. How does one sign or have any accountability for information given over the phone?
