You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

Solution to our last puzzle. Simply scroll your cursor over the text while left clicking your mouse, and the words should appear.

HATE IS TOO GREAT A BURDEN TO BEAR. IT INJURES THE HATER MORE THAN IT INJURES THE HATED. CORETTA SCOTT KING

3.5 minutes. Not bad for just starting to do these a few days ago.

Nothing to it. Author. Most prolific nom de plume in cryptoquote history. I am familiar with quote.

WOW!!!!
Faster than a speeding bullet.

Worked this one from the bottom and by the time I looked at the top tow it was completed.

‘Guessed’ correctly at the contraction, looked down and the ONLY obvious (to ME) name for an author was revealed and in ‘true American’ style, worked my way from the bottom to the top....<: <: <:

This CG you could actually stop after one minute and read it, before completely writing out every letter.

Yes...once the end of contraction filled in the author was a snap, and when I finally ‘looked up’ it was basically completed...

These ‘puzzles’ are like people (feast or famine <:..)

Everyone pleases everyone else
Some by entering a room, others by leaving.

Hmmm....you really have to thread the needle to be in line with a solar eclipse. If you’re just a few miles outside the path of totality you might not even be aware there was an eclipse.

That might be too much of a hint.

If you can get the contraction at the end early on, it’s probably easiest.
