Received the 2020/2021 flu vaccine yesterday morning, and by approximately 3 PM I experienced some mild fatigue, other than thinking that I was kicked in the left arm by a mule.
Then, by 7:30 PM I had a nice headache, body aches, and pretty sure a slight fever that went on through last night's VP Debate (yep, watched it), and all through the night.
Feel a lot better today. And I'd think it was worth it; haven't had the flu even once since I started getting the shot back in the 80s.
God's Blessings to all of you, beloved fellow FReepers.
No thank you.
Never had a flu shot. Never had the flu.
The vaccine industry is evil. And dominates the medical world.
You are NOT allowed to dissent. Even if they KILL YOU
I haven’t had the flu even once since I started not getting the shot, so I’ll skip it. Best of luck to you, though.
After the 5 strong negative reactions my body had (within 3 days) to the vaccine of 2018, never again.
I am still slightly affected, and am unwilling to ever tempt that demon, for any reason. I’d rather take my chances, thank you.
I was given the “high dose” (senior double dose) vaccine about a month ago. Upper arm slightly tender that evening, nothing else to report.
I got mine yesterday too. My doc insisted since I’m recovering from major surgery (ruptured appendix with complications on Labor Day) and am 66. I also had the sore arm but that’s about it. Surgeon said I came very close to death...so don’t want to take any more chances right now...sigh
Wife and I, both in our seventies, got the high strength shot about a month ago. No side effects, none whatsoever.
I got my flu shot yesterday at noon. No side effects at all.
I don’t get the flu shot and I don’t get the flu
I haven’t had one in many years. The flu shot tricks your own T-Cells into taking a break from their patrol duties. Not smart. Year by year they get stupid and lethargic. That is what a doctor told me anyway. She was a real doctor by the way. But I am sure many doctors will disagree. That is why I have always said doctors make recommendations about my health care requirements, I make decisions.
I got the high dose last week. No symptoms at all, not even tenderness at injection site.
I started receiving flu vaccine many years ago, one year after suffering a horrible case of the flu. Haven’t had the flu since.
I no longer get knocked out by the flu vaccine. But a few months ago, after receiving the newest pneumonia vaccine, I suffered about a half a day of severe fatigue, and pain at the injection site that last several days. That’s probably related to my innate immune system kicking in, which is required for getting full adaptive immunity (i.e, specific anti-pathogen antibodies). Good!
I intend to get a coronavirus vaccine that has been proven safe and effective in published Phase 3 clinical trials and approved by the FDA. Everyone should, so that we can end social distancing once and for all!!!!
For those who doubt the value of a flu shot, I have this to say. Last year I had my shot, as usual, but still caught it. I was in bed for a week, wreching, with fever and chills. The following week my officemate who wasnt vaccinated caught it and died the next day.
Not getting immunization that works seems stupid and foolish to me.
I got the shot this year and other than a sore arm for about 3 days nothing else.
I got the flu in spring 2019 and was sick/fatigued for about a month.
That’s how it works. It takes two weeks for your immune system to make antibodies. If you are exposed during that time you can still get the flu but it should be more mild. That’s why so many think the shot gave them the flu but it didn’t.
I nearly died from flu about 10 years ago and have taken the vaccination since.
An acquaintance, about 55, got his flu shot last year and within a day or 2 developed Guillain-Barre syndrome - https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/guillain-barre-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20362793
Messed him up pretty badly for several months, but he is pretty well recovered now.
