Tasmanian devils, the carnivorous marsupials whose feisty, frenzied eating habits won the animals cartoon fame, have returned to mainland Australia for the first time in some 3,000 years.
Gabriel said Aussie Ark aims for devils eventually to live in non-protected areas in mainland Australia, with the hope the devils will contribute to keeping cat and fox populations under control.
There is an argument that by putting devils into a situation where you stop the other carnivores scavenging is that those animals, like cats and foxes, will simply start hunting. You could actually make a conservation problem where it didnt exist before,

They should study the “law of unintended consequences” before they proceed .... they never seem to get it right.
Have they fixed the cancer problem the devils were having?
Solution to the homeless problem?
This is not going to end well.
Lovebugs were introduced into Florida to control the mosquito problem. Brilliant solution that did nothing for the mosquito problem, but created a really bad problem humans. Twice a year they swarm in unbelievable numbers. They completely cover your vehicle if you drive through their cloud, and if you dont remove their carcasses promptly the acidic residue eats holes in the paint. They have no predators as they are too acidic.
Everything in the land down under wants to kill you.....
Australia is unintended consequences made manifest. That’s why they have so many animal problems, all introduced species, some introduced to deal with others. That being said, it is native, hopefully it’ll find a good niche and maybe kill off one of the problems.
But....it took 6 posts to get a pic of Taz. What next? Twelve posts before a Holy Grail quote on a story about a Moose? Nine posts later we get the "well...Bye" meme on a story about a Hollywood star pledging to leave America if Trump wins?
We're slipping.
Even the platypus is poisonous.
Ive been increasingly alarmed by the delay in Boo Hoo Girl posts ;-)
And they smell horrible if stepped on.

I thought they were on the verge of extinction? They had some sort of epidemic that cause tumors to form. Glad to see them making a come back. Need one and a honey badger for pets!
Some of their spiders there are big enough to catch birds in their webs and eat them.
I went to a wildlife park there where they had the devils in a walled enclosure. The walls were only about 4 feet high, I could easily lean over the wall to see them. They ran around the perimeter screaming most of the time. Apparently they can’t climb. Cats should have no trouble avoiding them.
