They should study the “law of unintended consequences” before they proceed .... they never seem to get it right.
Lovebugs were introduced into Florida to control the mosquito problem. Brilliant solution that did nothing for the mosquito problem, but created a really bad problem humans. Twice a year they swarm in unbelievable numbers. They completely cover your vehicle if you drive through their cloud, and if you dont remove their carcasses promptly the acidic residue eats holes in the paint. They have no predators as they are too acidic.
Australia is unintended consequences made manifest. That’s why they have so many animal problems, all introduced species, some introduced to deal with others. That being said, it is native, hopefully it’ll find a good niche and maybe kill off one of the problems.
